Web Snapper lets you capture web pages - exactly as they appear in your browser. You can send them to a file, as images or vector-based, multi-page PDFs. It captures the whole web page - eliminating the need to cut, paste and crop multiple screen-shots when trying to create an image or PDF. Web Snapper integrates with Safari via a toolbar button. When clicked, it takes a picture of the current site - but it will also work with any browser as a stand-alone application that accepts drag-and-drop URLs. Regardless of how you invoke it, Web Snapper converts the URL it was given into a
What's New
Version 3.1:
  • [NEW]: Added a setting to automatically remove snaps from the queue once saved to disk.
  • [MOD]: In the Web Snapper queue, we now show a thumbnail of the webpage being snapped, instead of the generic "URL" page icon.
  • [MOD]: The Safari plugin (haxie) is now an official Safari Extension. (with the minor functionality loss it incurs)
  • [FIX]: Some pages could crash Web Snapper when being snapped. Fixed.

Please Note: While the application itself is compatible with Mac OS X 10.7, the Safari plugin is NOT compatible with Safari 5.1 or Mac OS X 10.7 Lion

Did not work at all in Safari (but that is already stated (verson 5+). In Firefox, attempted the drag and drop on a page where I was logged in, but the only page printed was the login page and not the page I was viewing. I really do not see how this could be used to print receipts, for example.

Yes, Safari 5.1 seems to no longer allow plug-ins. For me, 1Password, Cosmopod and Web Snapper have all stopped working.

1Password already has an update out in which they move to using the supported extensions.

Both developers of Cosmopod and Web Snapper are working feverishly on updates. You can click over to the Tasty Apps site and read their blog entry regarding their efforts.

I’ve never been able to get this or DropImageURL to work. If it’s a form or a confirmation page that is long it never captures it. My last attempt was a FedEx confirmation page of a claim. It captured the login page. DropImageURL couldn’t capture it either.
Thanks ... Ken

Why does this app produce files that are viewable in Preview, but appear as blank white pages in Adobe Acrobat? (on PPC 10.58)

So is 3.0 a paid upgrade? I can't find any info on this on the devs website nor is there any info on a reduced upgrade pricing.

The in-app update release-notes don't show this either.

It didn't require me to pay an upgrade. WS 3 just worked from the get-go (at least for me).

Wow… this app is total garbage. I got this as part of a MacUpdate bundle, but I will never be using it or anything else from this developer ever again.

The simplest features I need (i.e. setting a specific pixel width for the capture) are non-existent. The output has ugly white margins added to it and background images/colors missing, as if the developer has hijacked Safari's printing system to export images as well. Some of the preferences don't stick when you hit “Save”, and others exhibit bizarre behavior (occasionally, choosing “Choose folder…” from the “Send to:” drop-down does absolutely nothing).

I've only used this app for about 10 minutes, but there's not point using it or reviewing it any further; it simply does not meet the needs of someone who needs to screenshot websites into PNGs in a WYSIWYG/pixel-for-pixel fashion.

Paparrazi! does the job better and for free!

It doens'ts put ugly white marges on the document, it is possible to set precisely the size of the final document with only minimal size, it will also copy background images, it will not crop the page like Web Snapper does ......

WebSnapper works great for me. I use it for making PDF of a web page (or PNG's). Not to take screenshots for which other apps are dedicated. Margins can be set and are good for printing

I'm trying out version 2.8 and a page I tried to capture showed as blank in Acrobat. I opened it in Preview and could view it fine. In a search I saw that this problem was supposedly fixed in a previous version, but it's still a problem. Any ideas?

Hi there! Yes indeed, that is in fact an Adobe bug... Above a certain page length, Adobe Acrobtat just does not display the document! It's a known issue with Acrobat. If you need to share your PDFs with Acrobat users, you will, unfortunately, need to use the pagination option and break your PDF document into Adobe-manageable pages...

Sorry!

I tried this out but decided not to purchase. Followed directions to delete Ap to uninstall. Also deleted prefs but nonetheless, the button in the Safari browser will not go away. The button non-functional but still there. I have done a thorough search for it and looked at all plug-ins and can't find it. Just a warning that if you try it out there may be a troublesome modification of your browser.

Once installed you are unable to select Customize Toolbar in Safari. Tried to contact developer, and website give no means of doing so. There is no uninstall feature so I hunted down the pieces to remove them and return Safari back to normal.

I love the potential of this plugin, but I had my Customize Address Bar menu item disable, as well. I emailed the developer today (2/14/2007), and received this reply from him within a few hours (which has resolved the problem for me):
=======

Do you perchance have SafariStand installed on you machine? We've discovered recently that there's an incompatibility between SafariStand and Red Snapper on some user's machines. We're working with the developer of SafariStand to come up with a fix for this problem. For now, temporarily disabling one or the other will fix the problem, and allow you to modify the toolbar.

Red Snapper can be uninstalled by removing "Red Snapper.bundle" from the "/Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins" folder, emptying the trash, and restarting Safari.

We apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused you.
