What's New
Version 2.0.8:
Fixed bug where image gallery thumbnails were not displayed (this will require you to re-sync. Until you do, you will not see your thumbnails)
Fixed bug where image descriptions were cut off in last row of gallery.
I like the idea mentioned in your blog ( http://www.infinitenil.com/blog/category/macosx/packrat/ ) for an Archiver and/or Page Saver, but think these functions would be better as additions to PackRat, rather than as a separate program.
Since PackRat emphasises ease of use, keeping it simple would be great: you could have a pop-up for archiving every n days and the page saver could simply copy to an archive file when an entire page is deleted.
Backpack is easy to use and PackRat makes it even better: a superb job of replicating the features on your Mac so you save time. And the developer is very quick to reply to emails. Highly recommended.
PackRat appears to be for Intel, only. I have version 1.6 on OS X 10.4.11 on a PowerPC and it works fine. This version (1.6.2) crashes because the Growl-WithInstaller Framework is found, but for the wrong architecture. This is according to CrashReporter.
At first PackRat seemed to be a strange app, because it's an *app* made for working with Backpack, a web service. But once I tinkered with it, got used to how much faster it is than waiting for the web and how it brings a few features to the table that even Backpack itself doesn't have, and I saw the light. Toss in the ability to keep all my vital Backpack stuff offline and accessible at all times, and I was in love.
No matter how you use Backpack, even if you have just a couple pages of information, PackRat is a killer tool for working even faster with your account. If you're like me and you have nearly 18 pages, PackRat could very well become a mandatory tool for working with all that stuff. I highly recommend it.
