What's New
Version 2.0.2:
The export and print menu are back on the transaction tables when running Mac OS X 10.7 without having to turn ‘Always show scrollbars’ on.
Considering its price, this seems to have been rushed to market before it is quite ready. Given the URL of the website, the developers blog, and its previous history it seems to be more of a Beta then a final release. What I do know about it is that the 1.x version got very poor reviews from MacWorld. Its developer was fastforwardsw which know longer exists on the web when I checked today. Specifications and information beyond video tutorials seem to be non-existent other than what is posted on MacUpdate. The current website is a me.com address with a persons name. The manual available for download is version 1.1 or something like that. Frankly with a finance product in this condition I am not ready to spend time downloading and evaluating it with the intent of migrating Quicken 2007 into it nor am I willing to spend $45 on it until I get the impression that it may be around for a while and offer some decent support and upgrades in the future. So for now I will take a 'wait and see'n approach until it shows signs of becoming a serious player in the personal finance arena which for me, currently seems to be somewhat lacking. Please note that my comment is the first comment to be made in about 3 years.
Just so you know, OFX support is definitely coming in an update later this year - along with more advanced CSV and QIF importing. If you have any other feedback, please email support - we're always happy to hear from potential customers.
mini$ supports all the major formats. And its free!
Note to developers:
Importing is so darn easy! I am the developer of mini$ and had no trouble at all to do it; OFX, QFX, QIF, and CSV. My importers are flexible and work consistently.
You guys charge $44.95 and don't have it! You should be ashamed. Try mini$ and take notes please! Or just have me do it for you. In fact, this goes out to all the Mac money programs. When Microsoft finally releases Money for the Mac, or Apple takes initiative and writes their own version of it, all these wannabe finance managers will be flushed down the drain!
Thanks for your comments, but when your program uses double-entry accounting instead of single-entry - it's not as easy as you think. If you have any other feedback, our support team would love to hear it.
I've found FinanceToGo (ver. 1.5) to be absolutely perfect for keeping track of my bank accounts. To be certain, my needs in this regard are not complicated. Nonetheless, FinanceToGo makes this task very easy. The program is intuitive and it takes no time at all to get started. Getting a handle on both income and expenses has never been easier for me. While lacking all the bells and whistles of some other more well known programs, FinanceToGo performs wonderfully. Entering data into the accounts and keeping track of one's money is a snap with FinanceToGo. This program is lean and fast to load which makes it very unlike some of its bloat ware competition. It is hard to imagine a personal user or small business not finding satisfaction with FinanceToGo.
The developers at Fastfforward Software are among the most responsive that I encountered. Each time I have contacted support with a question or to point out a problem with FinanceToGo they have provided useful replies and/or bug fixes very quickly. All companies should have such excellent customer support as does Fastforward Software.
I'm very pleased. I had very little accounting experience before using FinanceToGo but I found I was up to speed in no time. The transaction entering is extremely intuitive and managing the accounts is painless.
Support is excellent. I've had a quick reply to every email I've sent. Every issue I've reported has been looked into, and many bugs and crashes have been fixed in no time. The latest version (1.3.3) seems rock solid.
