BSOD! gives your Mac functionality which was previously only available to Windows XP users.

It generates highly realistic BSOD's, complete with valid messages and error codes. All in all, the screensaver contains over 200 real error codes.

The screensaver will only run on Mac OS 10.4 and above -- but it'll work great on both Intel and PowerPC machines.

Note: As of 1.0.2 "blocky" text (as one reviewer mentioned) can be fixed via a setting in the screensaver's preferences.

What's New

Version 1.0.3a:
  • Finally worked around Quartz's inability to interpret Math.random() correctly. This time for sure ;) This means that the "only-displays-one error" bug is fixed! Yay.

Mac OS X 10.4 or later

It always shows the same error... Disappointing :(

While this version provides a clearer typographical statement there continues to be, nevertheless, a single message on each apperance. Further effort will be
required in order to provide the multi-statements intended (and claimed). Great idea, but it isn't working at the moment!

Is this not a bit ... MASOCHISTIC? I mean, it's bad enough that the failure of ANY competition to the WinTel consortium puts Mac users into machines running Intel chips, but now we're invited to share a BSofD with those same PC users? Heck, just buy a PC running windoze and go for the "real thing." Why accept substitutes for misery?

Perhaps this is a sort of at-one-ment, where Mac users can vicariously pay for the sins of the PC-using world? Am I missing something? : )

I think I'll stick to beautiful visually-inspiring OpenGL screen savers.

Funny, in a morbid way.

Funny :) In an all Mac office, this was the talk of the morning!

Fun, but rather blocky. Opening it in Quartz Composer and editing the text renderer so it produces a rectangular rather than a 2D texture produces much nicer, smoother results. It's less authentic, I guess, but the scaling on the blocky version is so ugly to look at. Perhaps this could be an option?
