"Folder Splitter" no-frills, no complicated settings are an invitation to keep it like one of your favorites tools.
I use it every week and until now see no problem or hassle whatsoever.
The only 'catch' is that you HAVE to create a new folder (with an indifferent name) just to be the target of the splitted folders - it strangely cannot split within the same directory (the same folder that contains the original big folder).
Aside from that, this is a program that relies on your Mac's processing and HD speeds and quite useful.
It delivers what it promises. Did I mention it is fast?

When splitting for burning, remember, you must leave the tail end of the disc space for format information (this is up to 1gb of data). Here are some specs for this:
disc folder size
cd about 650mb
dvd(standard) about 3.9gb-4gb
dvd5 about 7gb
dvdDL(doublelayer) about 7.9-8gb
hddvd(standard) about 19gb-24gb
bluray(SL) about 24gb
bluray(DL) about 49gb
any disc with higher than 50gb space requires 2gb cushion on mac
final note:
Mac like to burn CONTIGUOUS data. If your HDD is cluttered like mine, an old 80gb external is cheap; wipe it, format it with GUID and extended journaling, use your favorite burning software and set up the external as your temp storage drive. This will maintain contiguous data for a fast, reliable burn without filepermission problems(just in case you have any on your internal HDD, moving a copy to external removes the limitations as externals do not have any permissions; check with get info and make sure that the setting shows to ignore file permissions on the volume). I hope this helps. Any questions, check my profile and find my email address, you can then put "Macupdate question" in subject, it will help sort. Good day.

As a feature request, it definitely needs a "preview" button so you can check what will be done before you do it for real...

I then tried with my home folder so I could have a backup and it did had some problems with special characters - nonetheless, it has a bright bright future.
Considering others are asking $40 for basically the same thing (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/22687) I think this is an amazing tool.
