So Gleam was a universal binary app that promised to upload my images to Flickr easily and simply.
Yes, it did certainly follow through with that, it was easy to drag a group of photos into Gleam, from there Gleam froze up on me a bit, it was hard to tell what it was doing, of course I was hoping it was going to display the group of pics that I just dragged into it's window, but it seemed to be taking a while and there was no visual indication from the UI that it was going to do anything at all, the only indication I had was that my CPU meter spiked right after dragging the pictures in. Better communication with the user would be great.
Gleam was pretty slow in general on my system, which is a MacBook 2GHz with 2GB of RAM, which was frustrating. I looked into entering the metadata info about my pictures, but then decided I was feeling too lazy to do that right now, and I would do it later on Flickr's website instead. Gleam auto entered some default information about all my pictures. The title of each picture is set to "Title", the description of every picture uploaded by Gleam is "description" and likewise, the only tag on all of these pictures is "tags". More frustrating, but I'll deal with it later, when I actually go through and enter info on those pics.
While uploading the pics with Gleam, the Gleam dock icon would bounce everytime a picture was uploaded. I'm not a big fan of dock bouncing for this, I would much prefer Growl support, and just throw up a growl message everytime a picture successfully uploads.
The interface needs work, and please please please try to make it faster for intel macs. Would it make a big difference that im using large DSLR taken jpgs? Around 6MB a piece, but still, Flickr Uploader which is a PPC app handles these files faster than Gleam at this point, I'd love for that to change.
Thank you very much for your efforts into this app!
