I can find no way to increase font size, although the developer's site has a request from another user.

does anyone know of any other tools that perform this operation on OSX? IF you're not using this tool for it's FUZZY searching ability, you're not getting the super-unique power this app offers IMO.

I know this just had face lift on its GUI but that still needs some serious work. The preferences should be available as a sliding sheet from the folder selection window. I found it extremely cumbersome to keep having to change preferences before each new scan.
And truth be told I would prefer to use EasyFind instead with a boolean search as it requires less work and is far more efficient.
I'm still going to give this good stars because I enjoyed reading the Fairware blog and this software has great potential.

I agree that having scanning options directly in the folder selection window might be better, I'll think about it.

Ok, so it was because I checked the 'I don't want to contribute' box that I was asked why.
The only other option from memory was the 'make a donation box.
I was not aware that I could continue without checking a box

It didn't appear until I clicked on 'more' at the bottom of the description.
I don't think MU are doing you a favor by having it out of view initially.
Even worse is saying 'Free' It should read 'Free/Fairware or just 'Fairware' with an explanation on the page describing what this is

This was my reply until it appeared that by sending it, this dude might somehow have access to my email address, as it was not the usual format I am used to and opted to play it safe.
It is simply because I have only just downloaded your software to see if it works ok and that I am happy with it's performance after reading the reviews on MU.
So, instead of trying it out, I am having to explain to you why I have not paid already, which I am not overly happy about.
I'd suggest you give us an option such as '' You would like to try it first '' before considering making a donation, rather than make us tick a box that says like 'we don't want to pay you anything and want to use this for free'
Not impressed with your style dude, so this is going in the bin

But there's a reason behind this whole thing. You can read about it at http://open.hardcoded.net/about/ . In short: dupeGuru being Fairware, contributions are expected. It's part of the deal. Before even trying the application, you say "I don't want to contribute". Ok, fair enough, but then tell me why. When you don't check the "I don't want to contribute" box, you're not asked why and you can use the application without limitation.

After all, it is listed as 'FREE' not 'Fairware' with an expectation of a donation as you say.
If you want to do this, then have it listed as 'Shareware' or better still a free 'Demo' for a limited number of uses or time. People don't like being nagged to pay.
Every other file duplicate program charges, and I don't have a problem with you wanting to get paid for your work, especially if it is a good program and useful.
I would have preferred to try it out for myself due to the mixed responses given on MU.
Paying up front is risky unless you are getting mostly positive reviews.
I was asked for a reason why I did not want to contribute, and that you are interested in feedback. I don't know why you are saying that we/I was not asked in a window that popped up immediately after I checked the box. I was.
You guys put in heaps of work and time into these software programs, but in my opinion you are letting yourselves down by not marketing it correctly.
Personally, I don't care how good the program is if I get the feeling I am being pressured by the developer. The program should speak for itself.
I'd suggest the demo and not just hiding the payup windows the first time as you have indicated. It is important that developers appear like nice guys, and present their products in a friendly manner and respond quickly to queries and problems users may have, especially if they have paid for it.
Think also about it being listed as 'Free' This is a little deceiving which does not go over well.
Good luck though, it might be great software dude :D

There's a note at the bottom of the description that says "NOTE: Although this software is listed as "Free", it's actually Fairware." (with a link to the Fairware site). I wanted to put that note at the top of the description, but MU editors moved it to the bottom.
I'm trying out a new model for software compensation, people don't know it yet, some confusion and friction occur. That's to be expected, adjustments will be made.

I also knew about other software packages out there that seemed to do much the same thing, but I was never inspired to try them out even after giving them a cursory look over. Yet for some reason I decided to give a dupeGuru a trial. Well. the sky didn't fall on my head, and my confidence grew. I like being able to just focus on a single folder at a time, or a single drive, and to be able to sort on file size to maximise my investment in time on the one hand and to break the task up into manageable bite sizes, as the mood strikes. I don't have to deal with the whole task all in one go - just a bit at a time, when I have some time.
And the price is very reasonable.

The best include "TidyUp!" and "Spring Cleaning 10".
My personal choice is "FileBuddy9" the only application that can search through invisible files and system files.
Dupe Guru is virtually worthless.
The current version took over an HOUR, as opposed to several minutes with the others listed above.
To be avoided.
