This is one app I use everyday, not for recording, but to listen to my favourite wonderful radio (actually I'm a huge fan of this radio since 30 years or so: http://mp3.live.tv-radio.com/fip/all/fiphautdebit.mp3 if you wanna try :-) — never heard such an eclectic radio, without ads and endless speeches).

The only glitch I had was when I switched from Tiger to Leopard, I had to change the cache size.
I've tried other radio softwares, nothing simply compares to FStream!

I have to add that the cache setting may depend on your network bandwidth (or the bandwidht of the radio station): lately, my favourite radio have repeated interruptions while in "small" mode; changing to "medium" reduces the number of those interruptions, but they end up occuring (it's probable that their output is slightly less than what's needed for playing audio...)

To be more accurate about the cache size: in Leopard it takes much longer to load than in Tiger (say, 30s in Leopard vs a few seconds in Tiger, while in Large buffer mode) — I don't know what is the cause, but anyway it works... :-)

I've tried many paid applications to record radio, however this free one, is the best I have seen, awesome app, never had a problem with.

This is a great app, but it just quit working for me. :( It streams from the Net, but I'm not getting any audio output. My audio's working just fine--I'm listening to streams with iTunes right now.

This is the second time this has happened. The first time around it just started working again after I fiddled around with the equalizer settings. This time I'm having no such luck.

Any one else have this problem. Any suggestions?

i had this problem recently and couldn't find the problem source but i think it muted my system sound. check your system preferences to see if there's something out of usual next time it happens.

i think it happened after the latest recent update (it couldn't install properly using the built-in updater so i had to download from the website, if i recall correctly).

Well, I figured out the problem. It was operator error, of course.

Somehow, I'd turned down the volume of the FStream output to zero. Hitting the up arrow increases the application's volume.

I can't play any radio station. I have a very high speed connection and I have no trouble with Radium, RadioShift,Snowtape or iTunes.I am using a MacbookPro with 10.5.8 Anyone have any ideas why???

Very good app... Only one regret : The "France Info" radio is not working... Maybe this will be corrected in a future release...

I've imported the URL from iTunes to FStream, and now "France Info" works fine !... So, no regrets any longer...

This little app can stream Ogg radio streams, that was a surprise! The only thing is doesn't support is stream Flac but most companies are support this huge file streaming format, yet. I sure hope the developers jump on Flac streaming if it becomes popular because I love this minimal application that streams so well.

If you geeky enough to figure out streaming among radio stations then this is the application that can do it for you.

Excellent little player. It takes a bit of getting used to the minimalist interface, but it runs flawlessly all day long on Snow Leopard and Leopard. I had no problem adding presets from iTunes 10. I've also used the iPod Touch version and it was a righteous piece of code. Very generous for the developer to offer this free of charge. Thanx. For a paid program that's similar check out Radium.

Extremely poorly designed auto update.
It tells me I'm due an update.
What it doesn't tell me is that the update is not compatible with my Mac, and that the new version won't work.
So, now, rather than a new and improved app, I have a broken waste of space on my hard drive.

I have noticed that on 10.5.8, FStream takes a very long time after launch (1 minute) to finally connect and start playing.

I seem to recall it doing so in just 5 or 10 seconds in the past.

Exactly! I am using 10.5.8 and most of the time it just doesn't connect. The presets don't show and when they do most of them are not showing in their categories.

No problem here in OSX.5.8 on G4 with DSL connection (8 Megabits per second, no special proxies). FStream connects instantly to the last used stream and plays automagically within six seconds.

Try removing it using Appcleaner or some such program and then reinstall either it or a previous version. I think the developer offers a previous version on his site if you check it out.

Great app, but after I upgraded to Snow Leopard, FStream now takes up to several minutes to connect to a station. Before, it was almost instantaneous. Have no idea why. It's quite irritating when switching stations to see what's on.

Fixed: I had used the stream URL from within iTunes, which itself re-directs to the actual radio stream's home website and downloads the playlist (this was working fine until a while ago). I've now entered that direct .pls url into the stream URL and it connects quickly again.

Am I the only one that just gets load static when I upgrade? My 1.4.2 works flawlessly, but when I upgrade, no matter the station, I get load static.

LOVE THE APP BTW!! Yes, Snowtape is REALLY COOL, but this one is completely free and awesomely functional.

Tried the 1.4.2 version in the Snow Leopard latest beta and it doesn't launch. I sure hope it gets updated because it is my favorite web radio program because of it's very low bandwidth use.

I really like version 140. I have been unable to open 141 or 142 as the Disk Image fails to mount with a "Not Recognized" error. I'm not having problems opening/mounting disk images from other downloads. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, any solution found?

The image isn't completely downloading for me; it's only half the size it should be. That's why it's giving me the same error.

All of a sudden trying to select a new station crashes the program. Will say connecting, then buffering then boom! Tried deleting the preferences file.

Well, the problem showed up apparently when I updated to Hear 1.0.2 and disappeared again when I updated to Hear 1.0.3. So all is well. Apparently just some cpnflicy which is now gone. Thanks and sorry for any confusion.
