Mountain Tanks overview

Mountain Tanks is a game where you choose your weapon, take careful aim, and pound your opponent's city into the dirt!

Mountain Tanks puts you in the gunner's seat of a powerful tank, the lone defender of an embattled city, with a selection of destructive and defensive weapons at your disposal. Taking turns with human or computer-controlled opponents, you must aim to maximize damage and finish off your enemies before they do the same to you!

As well as ballistic rockets, you have bouncing grenades to fire into those tricky corners, and barrel makers to deploy deadly high explosive containers into the heart of the enemy cities. And when you're the target, you can use smoke screens and wall makers to protect your citizens from the hail of incoming fire.

Mountain Tanks really shines when you play against a friend!

Mountain Tanks is a lot of fun. I find it easier to fine-aim using the IR remote control and Mira than using the stock Apple keyboard too. One big question tho: I've been running it on Leopard for years and this update says 10.6.6 or later. Will this and any future updates no longer work for me since I'm at 10.5.8? Thanks for any info.

Really fun game! While I'd like it to have more weapons and higher quality graphics, it's been great to play. Also, the music goes really well with the setting.

Great fun game!! Great background music; this is the only game I can play without turning off the music. A great addition to the game would be an option to view the game as a realistic 3D environment, blue sky, clouds, concrete buildings, metal tanks, grass etc... Great way to spend a little time blowing off steam!

After playing Mountain Tanks for a while, I have thought of a few ways to add some variety and challenges to the game. For instance by having a game mode where the player only has access to unlimited bombs rather than rockets. This would mean having to work out the angle of the ground in front of the target as well as the time delay on the fuse. Another suggestion would be to have games where either the elevation of the turret is fixed, or the power is fixed. Also, when a players tank is hit, it might be an idea to make a random type of ammunition unavailable to that player for the following round. As a final suggestion. How about a map where the only light that is available, is the light from explosions or flares that the players themselves have to fire?

I first downloaded the demo and noticed that it played quite slowly for me, but was still a lot of fun. So I decided to make the purchase. To my sheer delight the game was not as clunky as the demo and the Firing Range really helped me to figure out new ways of winning (ie, the Grenades when lofted on a high trajecotry and allowing for the bounce are a great weapon as is the Barrel Maker). The three things that would make this a better game and a better value would be to have more weapons, choice of soundtrack and maybe better graphics. Other than that you can chew up a lot of time blowing things up!! Great game.

The + and - keys are unavailable for my keyboard. I'm using a Swedish keyboard layout, which doesn't have these keys mapped to the same keys as US keyboard layout. May I propose enabling the + and - keys on the numerical keyboard?

This is a fabulous game--elegant, customizable, multi-player, testable, and visually beautiful. A take on classic ballistic games of the scorched earth variety, this makes it 3d. The simple array of weapons cover all of the bases, and the game is all about maximum damage with minimal effort. Barrels cause splash damage, as do grenades--and splash damage is the key--getting as many buildings at once. I purchased the game months ago, the developer is friendly and helpful, and the game just keeps getting better and better. Buy a license, try the multi-player. Complete with integrated chat and statistics, this game includes everything it should without burdening the user with a complicated interface or a steep learning curve. I play it all the time.

It needs a lot more before you can charge for this. It's OK as far as these tank battle games go (and this is only 1 in a long list) but, as it is it should be freeware. Not enough weapons. The only 2 that matter in this game is the wall and the missile. The few others that are offered are useless. 18 bucks? No way. But you can see yourself.

This game has a lot of welcome features but I find it strange that there are instructions for setting up a server for a linksys router, and no mention for an Airport base station.

It's certainly a fun game. Easy to understand, but challenging enough to keep your interest. The graphics are well-done and stylish. A few bits of constructive criticism: - add more variety to the types of buildings/tank colours - add more terrain - perhaps have the player try to shoot at a slow moving target? - maybe have more of a progression to the levels I realize all this might detract from what is meant to be a simple game, but it'd help convince me to pay $14!

I played it once, and I wanted to buy it. But the readme doesn't say how to buy it. So I went to the website (batteryacid.org) and there is no information on how to buy this game.

Scorched Earth 3D!!! This game looks like it will be great fun. Not sure how they avoid the aiming becoming too tricky. (Ballistic calculations are pretty fiddly. Too fiddly for a player to have to do in a game.) If they have got around that particular niggle, I can't wait to try this. (Still downloading, right now.)
