Do not disturb or shut off the power on your iMac during this update. Loss of power could result in your iMac failing to start up.
I've received 2 faulty 27″ iMac's since November 2009. I noticed the flickering on the first machine almost immediately and ordered a replacement. And the replacement turned up with exactly the same problem. I installed this Firmware update and it did absolutely nothing to remedy the problem. And I'm still having constant flickering and screen going black. I'm now waiting on a third machine. So fingers crossed it won't flicker or I'll have to return it for a full refund. Not going to try for a 4th machine!
To echo most of the comments I've seen, I had no problem with my Core i7 27-inch iMac prior to the update, but ran it anyway. Subsequent to the update, there were no glitches. So there you go.
Yes. I haven't had any display problems, but applied the patch anyway, without any difficulty. Let's hope this solves problems for a lot of people (but because of this problem there will be a lot of nice buys at the Refurb Store after the holidays!!).
