BeComposed is a Quartz composition for iTunes that MUST be used with the iVisualize plugin. When loaded on iTunes, BeComposed display the CD box of the playing album. The album cover and a bunch of informations are displayed if well set on the audio track (cf. Tags). At last, a lot of settings are available to personnalize BeComposed according to taste and computer power.

What's New

Version 1.5.1:

As requested, the "Show CD" option (at will) is back, but you can also set the level of insertion (update 1.5.1);
iVisualize 1.6 is necessary;
new mode: Christmas!!!;
new presentation of preferences for a best simpicity;
display bug of the help panel corrected (was blinking);
bug of the non spinning CD and incorrect cover display should be corrected (difficult to correct because it can be linked to the power of your Macintosh;
new particles effect, in rythm, on ground;
default artwork updated to iTunes 7 logo;
you can now desactivate the spectrum on the back of the vertical CD box (as requested);
new ground images are available;
font size of informations at the bottom can be resized up to 3 (as requested);
"unknown" have been replaced by "not set" for some of track informations for a best understanding;
press the "i" key to display performance & quality informations (ideal to look at your settings);
the camera (Freeview) now works well and smooth. Big changements on it, try it;

input options:

slider - set the insertion level for the spinning CD, 0: desactivated --> 1: default value (update 1.5.1);
activate / desactivate - display of performance & quality informations;
slider - choose beetween 11 settings of quality (to use with Show performance info);
activate / desactivate - Christmas mode!!! | Christmas mode;
choice - font size of bottom texts (resize up to 3);
keyboard key i - show / mask the performance & quality informations;
some options have been renamed for best understanding.

Version 1.4:

iVisualize 1.5 or above is necessary to use the new inputs mouse and keyboard;
CD box textures fully remade from new scans. More realistics, more shiny, best quality, best precision and details (plastics guide that maintain the booklet, shadows, fingers prints, stripes;
Covers are now changing by transitions, three are available;
addition of an help menu;
click and drag the mouse to visualize the scene from any angle (Freeview);
the CD box reflexions disappear and desactivate when looking the scene from below;
addition of an alert message when fullscreen mode is turned on: Freeview function is not available (iTunes restriction);
update of the way determining that only visibles effects are activated on the view;
the CD now eject and reinsert when a new track is starting;
code optimization;
the display bug of the informations (Show informations) is now corrected;

activate / desactivate - Y mouse axe when using Freeview;
activate / desactivate - display cover transition;
activate / desactivate - display help when the composition is launching;
activate / desactivate - display an alert message on fullscreen (Freeview is unavailable);
choice - cover transition effect (three available, try them);
keyboard key h - show / mask the help menu;
keyboard key s - stop / start the autorotation scene.

Version 1.3:

iVisualize 1.0.1 or above is necessary to use the new spectrumLineArt input;
new major code optimization (6x more fps from BeComposed 1.0 to 1.3 on PowerBook G4 1.33 GHz);
some display bugs have been corrected;
new introduction animation (and possibility to show the CD playing - look at input options -);

choice - set yourself the background color;
activate / desactivate - pulse color background in rythm;

reflexions do not overlay - as in reality - (update for 1.2.2);
more nodes are desactivated when not used (update for 1.2.2);
generalization of "unknown" text when data are missing (update for 1.2.2);
resolution of a display bug that could occur with some video cards (update for 1.2.2);
reduction of the needed video memory (update for 1.2.2);
the read-me as been updated and it's now a nice looking pdf (specific update for 1.2.1);
the color light of CD box now works (specific update for 1.2.1);
MAJOR CODE OPTIMIZATION;

the album name on the CD box spines is now well positionned;
the content of the informations has been updated;

Hands down the best visualizer I've seen - and I pretty much try them all. Just beautiful, works flawlessly (on my G5, haven't tried on my 1GHz G4 PowerBook), and just the right mix of art and information.

It appears to be too much for my 800mhz G4 iMac. The spinning CD has a black square around it and the FPS is slow. Overall display looks great but animation stutters and album art stays the same as first song played.
Guess I'll have buy some more lotto tickets!

If you are ready for a new iTunes visualiser this one is fantastic. The artwork is realistic and lots of info on each song. If you have iTunes on a mini connected to an HD screen this is essential. Amazing work and its free. The only way to understand is download and try it out.

I can't seem to find the "Show CD" button on this one. It says 1.5.1...

Please take a look at the read-me file and try options... "Show CD" have been renamed to "CD position". I use the "Show CD" term on the description to remember it to people.

I did read it, but I don't think it's 100% clear where the setting is. It says:

OK... I turned the "CD Position" slider to zero, but the "Performance info" window still says "Show spinning CD: yes", after clicking "OK" and even after a restart.

This is confusing... is it still being rendered just off the screen? That's why I thought it must be missing a checkbox somewhere. I realize now that the "Show spinning CD: yes" message is tied to the "Performance and quality" slider, which is kind of confusing in itself.

I think a simple "on/off" checkbox would make things a lot clearer... just my two cents. :)

Ok for that: I've just forgetten to relay the information on the "Performance info" panel. As spinning CD is also a setting for "Performance & quality" slider, the Performance info actually said "yes", sorry for the confusion. Don't worry, the Spinning CD is really desactivated when set to 0, the user setting "CD position" major the "Performance & quality" setting.
The info panel will be corrected for the next update.
It's difficult to present setting with ergonomy because I only got one way to do this: 1 colomn, x raws and I need to take care about little resolutions screens...
