Locker is a Dashboard widget that when clicked, fast user switches your Mac to the System user login screen. It then requires the user to enter their password before gaining access to the machine again.

What's New

Version 1.1: People on older machines or ones with less RAM will notice that Locker uses up less resources.

PPC / Intel, Mac OS X 10.4.5 or later.

This is no longer a widget. It's now a menubar application only available via the Mac App Store.

What a fantastic widget! Better than using Expose screen saver hot corner, and allows me to more easily show off my Visage-customized login panel/screen. Utilizing 5.5MB real memory & 0.00% CPU in Activity Monitor. Thanks!

Did you double click on the icon? Or single clicked?

I'm running 10.4.5 on a few machines and it seems to be working fine. Are you on an Intel box?

Positive: Works fine, does what it says.

Negative: Redundant, eats too much memory (this is more Apple's fault than the developer's)

The fast user switching menu extra takes less screen space and less system resources, and it doesn't require me opening a bunch of mini-apps (read: widgets) just to lock the screen.

It's just a question of which real-estate you value more, something that's on your screen all the time vs something that's on the dashboard.

Personally, I hate menu items. On my iBook for instance, having just a few of them on means that certain apps won't be able to show their whole menu. Grr!
