Version 1.5 gets rid of any complaints I had about this widget. The new retro look is very sleek! Appears to use little CPU (none when Dashboard is hidden) and no longer restarts when bringing up Dashboard.
Sorry, that last post was in response to the colour popup on the back. We already have a skin menu on the back... you can choose the skin colour from there.
Regarding "phoning home" : The widget checks daily to see if there's a newer version available. Nothing more.
TOMEM :: We will continue to update the way this works. I assure you that I'd make it work the way you want if I could! Metaballs are the ultimate solution, and would look like you (and I) want. We're investigating, but it'd be a fair effort to get them to work. I'm confident that if we do, it won't take up any more CPU.
Regarding "although, why does my Lamp have a different shape to the MU pic? Mine's a rocket!" : Please check the options on the back of the widget! There's 7 different skins.
It doesn't seem to be working for me. I get the frame of the lamp, and a little lego brick with a question mark on it where the lava should be. I've played sudoku on my dashboard for about an hour waiting for it to kick in, but nothing...
I love this widget - it lets you add a little personal style to the dashboard. Only one little potential bug: it closes whenever I restart. Everytime I restart, I have to launch it again.
This looks like a really cool widget (though I'll have to see about CPU usage). However, I can't get it to work no matter what I do.
I installed the Quartz Composer plugin into both my Internet Plug-ins folder in Library and directly into the widget bundle (I love lamp.wdgt; there was already a copy in there as of v1.1, although named slightly differently than the version I downloaded from the above link), then restarted the machine as a last attempt. Still no lava. It just sits there, pretty as an Apollo spacecraft ready for take-off with no fuel.
I also closed the widget and placed a new instance onto the dashboard. Still no luck. Any ideas on what could be going on with this?
Hi,
Can you try deleting the plugins you installed. They widegt has everything build in as of 1.1.
The description here isnt perfect as i submitted the 1.0 then the 1.1 but they ended up with the same description some how

Anyone else experiencing this?

Ah! I deleted the widget and the internet plug-in and reinstalled from scratch. Everything working fine now.
Thanks a lot!
