Daappelganger shares your music files for listening over a local network without any of the listening restrictions imposed by other music sharing applications. Daappelganger allows for simultaneous listening connections limited only by your hardware and your local network bandwidth.

What's New

Version 1.1PR1:

It's recommended that you use the "Reset Daappelganger" function under the file menu the first time you run Daappelganger. This will clear out some of the krunk from previous versions of Daappelganger.
Daappelganger very much enjoys being run from the "Applications" folder, so if at all possible, place it there before setting up your music sharing.
If you'd like Music Sharing to start up automatically at log in, simply add Daappelgnager to your Login Items in System Preferences > Accounts > Login Items. Daappelganger will then start up music sharing automatically.
Depending on the size of your music library, it may take a long time to build the "Daappelganger.cache" file and start up music sharing. This will only be slow once during the initial indexing of your music share. Promise.

Works for me. One problem though, I keep most of my music on a separate drive, not in my itunes music folder, how do I share it?

Hi Anonymous; setting a path to your music folder will be coming in version 1.1. In the meantime, just manually change the path in the file /etc/daapd.conf from pointing to your iTunes folder to point to your external drive.

Thanks, 1.0.2 can share my music now. Small irritation: all my m3u files show up as playlists under my share, I'd like to be able to turn that off. Other than that, works great - no more stoopid itunes restrictions!

So I was having trouble getting it to start, and when I tried to start it from the command line, I saw that the address was already in use. For some reason, it seems that root spawns a copy of daapd at startup. Anyone know why this might be? Killing it and then running daapelganger works perfectly. Good job with this guys. The 5-person limit was a real pain in the patoot. That's right. I said patoot.

Hi Andrew,

The way it's set up now, Daappelganger launches teh daapd music sharing service as a root-owned service via the XML daapd.plist file in your /Library/LaunchDeamons/ folder; try moving that file to /Library/LaunchAgents/ and see if anything improves? Also, feel free to contact me personally and we can work it out.

A fixed build was copied to the server at 8:20 PM; if you downloaded a busted copy before that, re-download it. I just tested the new build and it works. Sorry about that!
