TechTool Deluxe from Micromat is a powerful diagnostic utility that allows you to test your computer's critical system components, such as the processor, RAM (random-access memory), VRAM (video random-access memory), the hard disk, and more. TechTool Deluxe can also repair your computer's disk structure and rebuild its directories as necessary.
Is this software obsolete? There is no download. Both links go to an Apple page to initiate troubleshooting, but no option to download this software is provided there.
MacUpdate lists current TechTool Deluxe version as 3.3 (released 11/3/09). Developer's web site shows current version as 3.1.3 (released 9/3/09 for Snow Leopard compatibility). MacUpdate download link yields TTD 3.1.3. This appears to be an error on the MacUpdate page (or else the TTD 3.3 release was pulled for some reason & version number was not reverted back).
Note to MacUpdate: upon further review, the TTD updater is version 3.3 but the TTD application is actually version 3.1.3. You may wish to fix this. Thanks.
I also no longer see any value in using this tool when Disk Utility and Disk Warrior really do all that is needed. I also find the circa 1996 Norton Utilities-like GUI rather cloying.
I've long abandoned TechTool in favor of Apple's own solutions (built into the system) or DiskWarrior. Marketing hype aside, I just don't see any real value in TechTool.
Whew! I thought it was just me. I got about 6-10K on two different broadband connections. FWIW, I had just downloaded an update of about the same size from another developer over the same wifi network. That one downloaded at 384K.
At least you could download for whatever good it did. I can't even download. Either get an error or timeout on my connection to Micromat. Micromat needs to find some people who know what they are doing. Maybe Apple needs to latch on to someone else.
Is anyone actually able to install this update? I've tried downloading the disk image twice from the site and it says it failed to mount because it's "not recognized."

... I'm on a 6+ Mbps broadband connection, and the file is downloading at only 10kB/sec - that's dial-up speeds.
C'mon Micromat, this isn't 1997 - can you at least have a mirror for your files. Sheesh!

I have Tech Tool 3.1.1 installed, and ran the "updater", yet it claims 3.1.2 is installed.
when I click on Tech Tools, it still claims not to work with Leopard & shows 3.1.1
Yet, this same version, when asked to "check updates" claims it is 3.1.2.

I did get it installed.
For Me. I had to uninstall, re-install 3.11 from the cd/dvd, then re-run the updater, and then it finally worked.

I wish Apple would find a different partner for this type of software - I've had it with Micromat.

Quality stuff, Micromat. Does Apple actually pay you to include this half-baked utility with AppleCare?
