I use my old iPhone next to my Mac as a more reliable remote, but I'd really rather just have it available on my main screen.
I use Tuneconnect still, but sooner or later it craps out on me.
Sometimes I just use screen sharing and shrink the window to iTunes size..
I have three little suggestions that would make the program perfect for me and I'm sure others would enjoy those too:
-> Auto-connect option when the program first starts
-> option to have a menu bar icon only (hiding the one in the dock), and thus add a "show main window" under that menu bar icon menu (when hiding the application with command+H)
-> add keyboard shortcut options for volume up +1 /down -1

It is fast, stable and doesn't need much cpu power. Ideal for controling iTunes on desktop machine from portable.
The only free product of this kind which a found with big resizeable window with all playlist and songs in iTunes style. EQ and Visuals control are also nice. The only thing you will need to control playback on remote machine.

A feature request though: would it be possible to browse tracks on an iPod that is plugged in?

Some nifty feature requests:
A BIG, nice addition would be the introduction of some standard keystrokes (spacebar = pause/play, arrow keys to control volume and track skipping, etc.).
Random and Repeat buttons would be cool too.
Like I said above, this rawks. It replaces "Remote Remote" for this task, I love the Growl notification, and I think you're on the right track (so to speak). Awesome!

I didn't understand the search string, I have a -1708 error when I click on the "Play new track" button whatever the input is.
no sound control (for 0.6 ? :)
it should be nice to have more information on the current track (elapsed/total time for exemple)
When the Remote iTunes is playing songs, the controls work (except "play new track").
Keep on, keep on !

The Client can connect OK and shows me the Growl notification, but after that the client can't see the Music Library. It just says (null) (null).
Also, the Bug Report submission doesn't work, as it redirects to a site called 16bugs which the developer hasn't renewed.
I call Abandonware.
My library has ca. 8000 Tracks, and i work over WLAN.
At my friend's iMac it works perfektly. Though he has a little smaller library.
