Easy Grade Pro can create an electronic gradebook which, like a paper gradebook, can be used to store student information for all classes and subjects for a year. Better than a paper gradebook, an Easy Grade Pro gradebook provides an abundance of tools to save time, provides a wealth of information, and allows educators to generate professional internet and paper reports to communicate their student data with others.

I do not recommend this product until Edline begins to support it. I wish they would sell it back to the original owners. This was a great product, but Edline is all but killing it. I saw below that a user learned from their support that there is a new version that ads support for Lion, but that is all it does. It used to be when Orbis owned this that they constantly made updates. Edline doesn't even appear to update this site regularly. When a user had to make a comment to let us know that a major Mac OS relase like Lion is supported... well that says something. These are the reasons i would not recommend this product... when Orbis had it I wold have given it a 5 which is something I rarely do.
Unlike 3.6 to 4.0 upgrade - this upgrade has an $18 charge :( So I think - OK, worth it for new features. Guess what? There are none. The only difference, says their rep, is that the app is now Universal & will work with Lion. Thanks for nothing Edline. Unless you need the new OS it seems you won't need this either. Had to fill out the stars/review again so I give it .5 for value. OTOH the $18 is for physical delivery - maybe they will (eventually) but up a free updater download.
Positive rankings aside - this is a dead duck. Edline is only interested in selling the web-based solution to schools and districts - single user sales are doomed. They dropped any support. I doubt there will be future upgrades. A real pity. Meanwhile - this is STILL the best stand-alone app for teachers - but it seems the whole concept is disappearing. Sad when goot apps get bought out by companies that don't care....
Your analysis is spot on. I was an EGP user and advocate for years. They were a great company when it was a small business... Edline has destroyed the product. It is a shame.
Version 4.1 with Lion compatibility is available now. Orders must be by phone since the web pages haven't been updated in months. Still the best stand-alone grade book available. Like the other posters, I hope Edline doesn't kill the product.
I used this program since it first came out. It was wonderful and infinitely better than any grading app out there. I was a beta tester for EGP Clipboard--which btw is now discontinued--and EGP. The folks at Orbis were sincere and quick to respond, regarding the suggestions I made to them. It's fun to pull up some of the old gradebooks from the 90's on EGP--sort of like looking at old yearbooks. I'm finally retiring this once-stellar program to the trash bin. My school district uses an above-mentioned web-based app now, and I've got to tell you--"It really S**ks." Oh well, all good things must come to an end. Hope the good people who used to run Orbis are now enjoying the good life: retired on some tropical island, while Edline runs this once-fantastic company into the ground.
EGP is the best, but since the new developer took over, I have little hope for improvement. Snow Leopard has been out for almost two years and the developer's web page lists 4.1 will be released "in three or four weeks." That was months ago. E-mails to the developer don;t even offer excuses any more.
There's not much interest from the developer in advancing new features or continuing development. Customer service was responsive, but not at all interested in hearing suggestions for improvement (like automatically deducting points for poor attendance, or calculating attendance as part of the overall weighted grades). The fact that there's not even an Intel binary tells me a lot. This looks great, but without any interest from their end, I've got no confidence in it.
Although I like the software very much, the description wrongly says it is Universal Binary. It is not. I hope they are planning on upgrading to UB soon.
Easy grade Pro is the best. My co workers and I have used it for progress reports for parents and administrators. Attendance was easy to take. It kept track of homework, classwork. Everything you need to do with out all the brain work or averaging the grade for the final report cards. It works for parents because it proves to the parents what the student has done or not done (no more excuses or missing homework). You can even email the progress reports to the parents whenever they need to see it! It was great! It was even fun for the students because they always wanted to know who was the top student in the class and why.
Every teacher and school should have this program. It relieves the heads of gradebooks and written progress reports or having to explain to parents why a students passed or didn't passed. It's obivious.

This is a great program that is flexible enough to meet the needs of a variety of educational settings, from grade school through college. The developers are quick to respond to questions, and they even value feedback. I only wish they could find a way to make it compatible with PowerSchool as our district is switching to that platform. If you haven't tried this program, download the demo. It's worth a look.

As teachers are required to track and record ever more data on students from Pre-K on up, this is some rather useful software. It helps instructors document and keep tabs on attendance, assignments, homework, besides the ever-increasing standardized tests being touted as so essential by useless educational administrators/bureaucrats. Analyzing data compiled by hardworking teachers of over tested students gives those overpaid goldbricks something to do whilst not squeezing blackheads on their backsides.
