Generate and play Sudoku puzzles on your Dashboard.
If you don't know what Sudoku is yet, boy are you in for some sleepless nights. It's an addictive and challenging game that will drive you mad but keep you itching for more. Sudoku Widget generates random puzzles with four different levels of difficulty, has the option to show when you have entered an incorrect answer, allows for 'pencil' marks for temporary numbers, times your games so you can see how much better (or worse) you are getting, allows for blank puzzles and more...Plus, the best part is, it's free.
What's New
Version 1.5:
high scores
auto-pencil marks are editable and strikeable
pencil mark only mode for faster entry
ability to delete all pencil marks and/or reset puzzle
Have been using this widget for a couple versions now, and never had a problem -- aside from the work time lost!
The keyboard shortcuts are a big thing for me -- I find it much easier to use the shift key/spacebar and numbers over the mouse/track pad. Nice options to allow/not allow "bad answers", or to automark all empty boxes.
Love it.

I like. A little glitch (v 1.21 and earlier) though. When closing dashboard after a successful game and again displaying dashboard, the counter has begun to tick again. This makes the widget to use CPU even when dashboard is closed (one can see it in Activity Monitor).

Having the same problem with not being able to input values in the bottom left hand side! Other wise OK!

I'm planning on adding #2 in a soon to come 1.1 version - later this week, but I wanted to get it out there and see what else people wanted. Also, I'm adding keyboard navigation, auto-pencil marks, and I'm looking in to making the puzzles harder for those masochistic folks out there :). #'s 3 and 4 - I have planned also but that might have to wait 'til 1.2 depending on the amount of time I have. I'll look at making it a bit smaller too, but I think being able to put pencil marks in each box requires the widget to be a certain size before they become unreadable and with some of the coming features I think we'll need some of that space (ie. for a timer).
Sudoku 1.1 won't let me enter numbers into the six bottom squares from the left.

A very good Sudoku. Nice Touch the ability to choose 4 different settings of difficulty. My only gripes:
1. Could be a little smaller
2. When Sudoku is complete, there is no visual indication that you have completed it succesfully or not...
3. A nice implementation would be the addition of timed mode (I am one of those that likes to time the completion of Sudokus)
4. A basic stats window, would be great (like the sudoku that can be played at www.miniclip.com )
I know those are a lot to ask out of a widget, but I think 1 and 2 points needs to be addressed in a later version.
