Dockyard Widget is a "dock switcher" for Mac OS X. It allows you to have multiple docks and switch between them with one click. You can even switch Dashboard configurations along with your dock. Dockyard now comes in three forms: a menu extra, which appears in your menu bar, a widget, which appears in your Dashboard (Mac OS X v10.4 only), and a normal application (Dockyard Manager) which allows finer control over your docks. All three programs were created with Apple's Cocoa API, using the Objective-C programming language.

Well, I didn't have as much trouble as the previous poster, thankfully, but I'm still trashing this widget.

Every time you change Docks, it relaunches the Finder, which is a bit of a hassle, and causes the Dashboard to reload as well, which takes a little while.

I wish there was some way to accomplish what this widget wants to do without the FInder restart. Then it would be quite useful.

It's not the Finder restarting, it's just the Dock (and the Dashboard), which is unavoidable because it needs to read the new preferences. If the Finder actually is restarting (desktop icons disappearing, etc.), then you've found a bug. Please tell me more about your system so I can fix it.

Be careful with this version. After installing on a 'clean' system (no previous Dockyard apps), my dashboard no longer opens and I now only have access to my 'test dock.' Deleting the .plist for dashboard and the dock does not appear to fix the problem. If anyone comes up with a solution to what this widget does, please post it in case I haven't sorted my system out yet...

Well, I can't say I've ever experienced these problems. However, you can uninstall Dockyard by deleting the com.belkadan.Dockyard preferences file and removing the widget from your system.
