No more BZIP2 Support?
I hope it comes back...
If not, I will definitely be looking elsewhere.
(And I am sure others will too!)

Not to worry,
I'll add it back once I figure out two bugs related to it.

1) The expanded contents would never have an extension, so if you didn't know it beforehand, you may not be able to open the files. (Maybe I can include a .ds_store-like file that lists the extensions?)

2) Creating BZIP2s in some cases would just bring up an "INVALID ARG" error.

I think the problem may be with the 7za binary that you use for BZIP2. Why don't you try the official BZIP2 binary for compression and decompression instead of the 7za binary?
burypromote
Leifertin (developer) replied on 17 Dec 2010
Ah I didn't realize that was there. I'll read up on the manual for it and bring BZIP2 back soon.

I you are looking for a good BZip2 program, then you may try TarPit. I like TarPit a lot and it is free.

What i try to understand is howto create par2 files to a multiarchive when i drop all 39 files into the drop window it tries to make a par2 set for every file instead for the whole archive
Not very handy i guess but maybe i'm doing something wrong.

Ah I guess I've never been in the situation where I've needed to PAR2 a split archive.

Here's a solution:
Make a folder and put all parts of the multi-part archive in there.
Create PAR2 files from the folder (In a folder outside the folder with the archive in it).
Drag the PAR2 files back into the archive folder so that everything is in one folder.

I'll go ahead and add that to the Read Me.

If you are trying to view an archive and it looks empty but you know there is something in there, toggle the "use unRAR for split archives" box.

This will probably be the next thing I fix...

Thank you for this app, i like it but i'm missing something real important 7zip not only gives you the option to encrypt archives but also encrypt the filenames in it that feature is what i'm looking for and still not found in a 7zip app for the mac.

I think this is an easy implementation it would make this program for me even better.

Thanks in advance.

I'll work on it this week.

You can also use "The Unarchiver" (free) or keka (free version for MacOS 10.4 on their website) or "StuffIt Expander" (free) or iArchiver (shareware) or "Compress Files" (shareware) in order to expand a .7z file

It says "Incorrect Password," if the size of the parent of the output folder does not change after the process. So if you expanded something to the same place twice without the "Overwrite..." box checked then that would bring up this error.

Basically, check the size of the files after the process. If the are bigger than 0 bytes, then just ignore the error. If they are 0 bytes, however, you probably needed a password.

Fortunately, I'm pretty sure I've come up with a better way of handling this.
I'll be working on it this week.

First of all thanks for what i consider a truly useful application for mac.

I noticed that since newer versions i'm no more able to see the log with the results of the operationand therefore i can't understand if all files extracted are ok or something inside the folder is corrupted.
Am i missing something ?

Pretty much every error that could occur is now displayed within Ez7z, therefore the log is now not necessary for most operations. It's still being created just not displayed, except for PAR2 repairing/verifying and when it comes across a file with a ' in it.

If you still want to look at it just right-click on Ez7z in the finder and click "Show Package Contents", then "Contents", "Resources", and open "tempLog.txt". Ez7z delete's this file when you quit, so you'll have to do it while it's still open.

Installed 7za and Ez7z.
Rebooted.
Started app, dropped 56mb folder, set to 7z maximum compression.
Got dialogue box about progress bar.
Then nothing, no progress bar.
App does not hang but remains stuck and unable to progress to next step.

7za command line works fine, similar apps like GUI Tar are also fine.

Try again to a different folder. Also, the dialog just goes away once it's determined the file sizes to use for the bar. The bar only shows up once that size has been affected. So there could be progress, just no changing file size (yet). Lastly, max compression takes a looong time for me at least.

Open the preferences window, if you are opening a split RAR archive then check the "Use unRAR to expand split archives" box. If you are opening any other kind of split archive, uncheck this box.

Applejunkie had trouble on 23 Dec 2009
How does this app work? I've downloaded 2 of 5 volumes of a movie from MovieBerry. The MovieBerry site indicates that the content is compressed by 7x archiver. So I downloaded Ez7z in hopes of decompressing the 5 files. When I try to Expand the first file, named "movie_name.part.dvd.7z.001", I receive the following:

7-Zip (A) 9.04 beta Copyright (c) 1999-2009 Igor Pavlov 2009-05-30
p7zip Version 9.04 (locale=utf8,Utf16=on,HugeFiles=on,2 CPUs)

Processing archive: /Users/Username/Downloads/movie_name.part.dvd.7z.001

Error: E_FAIL

Also, if/when I finally get past the E_FAIL message, any suggestions about how I put the 5 files together to make a singe movie?

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated!
