I agree with ZANGIEF that this is the only piece of software that's supposed to SOLVE Sudoku puzzles and actually does so. I certainly couldn't find any, anyway. I like its nice clean lines too. Others are cluttered up with colours and all sorts of other gimmicks. My only quibble with Sudoku Master is that I'd like the puzzle to be larger. It looks very tiny on my 1680 x 1050 20" Cinema display and I keep wanting to drag the bottom right-hand corner downwards. Maybe a choice of sizes could be provided because I imagine younger eyes than mine would be quite happy with the present size. I also need software that teaches me how to DO Sudoku (and I could hardly expect such software to be free). To my utter humiliation, I find the only puzzles I can solve are rated as extra easy!

Of all the free sudoku apps on here that claim to solve puzzles, this is the only one that does what it says. Nice, would like the feature to open sudokus in various formats.

The current download link points to a new version that has all the changes the previous reviewer complained about, i.e. an English user interface, and digits can be entered using keyboard.

It does not create Sudokus; the New button just clears the board.

A nice clear interface greets the user but this non-German speaker was disappointed when he realised there was no English language option. Persevering with the trial, however, produced no encouraging rseults as I filled in 'clue' squares in the matrix. Whatever I tried, the same message "This Sudoku has no or multiple solutions" appeared when the Solve button is pressed. Even when throwing it a set of clues of a known, solvable Sudoku, the same message was displayed.

And this simple solve routine is all the application is advertised as doing...and is all it would do. If only!

As to usability, the method of entering numbers, is difficult. The user has to select a number (1 to 9) and then click the squares on the matrix to enter that number, instead of the easier method used in other applications of this type, where numbers can be typed directly into the matrix.
