Unfortunately, there's no sound. Pure silence from a radio of any kind doesn't light me up!

The actual list of working streams that work in this widget is limited for now. The real player links are not friendly to this script. I will add more as they are available. It would be nice if the NOAA would just have these online as it is. Here is the list: http://www.nws.noaa.gov/nwr/streamaudio.htm

If you have any more that might work email me admin@travelwdigets.com

Okay, that makes sense. I should have dug a little deeper ... must have glossed over the "streaming" part.

There's one NC streaming site using WMP, and in my test, it didn't work anyhow.

I imagine the list is not updated at NOAA frequently. That might change if the prognosticators for an increase in hurricane activity over the next 10-20 years are correct.

Your work is appreciated, hope I didn't come across otherwise, apologies if I did.

    Keep up the great work.

Would be great to have more states listed. Not sure the work involved, but KY and FL won't call the weather for the coastal mid-eastern states like Maryland, DE, VA, NC.

Also not sure if your app pulls the same weather stations listed here:

I suppose 900 stations is a lot to add. :-)

Darren, the list you posted is the total list of -broadcast- National Weather Radio stations. These broadcast on the seven NWR frequencies and are what people typically refer to as "weather radio."

The widget is simply a front-end for listening to online-available streams of the weather radio station local to a certain locality. Obviously since many of the stations broadcast from areas where there are not "large pipes" for hosting a stream, and not all stations have willing sponsors to host a stream, not anywhere close to the full number of NWR stations will have online streams available.

Thanks, Bill, after reading the developers comment and yours I realized my error. Appreciate the correction.

I remember the little, one-button, single-antenna brown boxes back in the day that provided repeating NOAA alerts. Probably what helped give me a greater appreciation for weather patterns and such.

Neat if we could tap in on broadcast stations ... rather, if more broadcast stations streamed. Obvious statement. :-)
