What's New
Version 2.0:
- Redesigned Category Editor - Creating and editing categories is now simpler than ever. The new Category Editor uses a drag-and-drop design allowing you to quickly create new categories. Now comes with full undo and redo support.
- Image Support - You can now attach images to entries by dragging and dropping an image on an entry. info.xhead stores the original full-scale image as well as a thumbnail. You can also drag application or file icons to use as images.
- Infolists - A new way of organizing entries, Infolists allow you to group related entries from different categories in one place.
- Field Types - Categories now support defining fields of type Date, Money, or Number, in addition to Text Fields. Fields of type Date, Money, and Number benefit from automatic formatting.
- Visual Type Select - For the first time, see what you're actually typing when type-selecting. A small transparent window appears as soon as you start typing in the Entry List and swiftly selects the matched Entry as soon as you're done typing.
- Scroll Guide - The Entry List now shows a guide when scrolling allowing you to see where you are in the list. If your entries are sorted alphabetically, alphabets are shown. If your entries are sorted by created or modified date, you'll see dates as you scroll.
- Performance - info 2 is the fastest version we have released to date. info 2 starts up instantly (no more dock bounces) and saves are dramatically faster.
- External Links - You can now create "links" to entries in info.xhead from external applications. Dragging and dropping an entry in a Pages document for instance creates a link to the entry. Clicking the link launches info.xhead if it's not already running and shows the entry.
- Incremental Undo - Individual changes to fields in an entry can now be discretely undone without undoing all the changes to the entry.
- Contextual Menus - Both Source and Entry Lists now feature contextual menus avoiding the long journey to the menubar. This is for all you "right-clickers" out there (you know who you are).
- Organize Away - Organize your most important information using extensible and color-coded categories. info.xhead comes with several built-in categories for storing everyday information.
- Fully Customizable - Create your own categories to store any kind of data. You can customize an existing category and add fields, delete fields, rename fields, or rearrange the order in which they're displayed.
- Secure Database - info.xhead uses 256-bit AES encryption to safeguard your sensitive data. A password you provide is used to encrypt your information and secure access to the application.
- Hidden Fields - Don't want anyone taking a peek at your data while the application is open? Mark any field as hidden and obscure it with bullets. Text in that field is only revealed when you click on it.
- AutoLock - To keep your data secure even when the application is running, info.xhead can automatically lock itself after a configurable period of inactivity, when your computer goes to sleep, or when a user switch occurs.
- AutoFill - Take the work out of logging into websites and have info.xhead do it for you. With a single click, it can launch Safari, go to the website, and automatically fill out the username and password fields and log you in.
- One-click Copy - Don't waste time selecting text and choosing Edit > Copy. Just click the field label and information in that field is swiftly copied to the clipboard. It doesn't getting any easier or faster.
- MobileMe Integration - If you have a MobileMe account, you can use the built-in Backup feature to backup your database to your iDisk. Should you need to, you can restore your database from MobileMe as well.
- Import - Import information into info.xhead from CSV (Comma-separated Value) or Tab-delimited files. A flexible import mechanism gives you precise control over how data is imported.

When the site was available, it said they would have iPhone syncing in 2009. It never happened.
Info.xhead is a great app, but it's safe to assume we will not see anymore updates.

Reliable, simple, slick, intuitive.
I have been using this program for years and I cannot function without it. It has never failed me.
MobileMe synchronization is awesome.
Version 2.0 is amazing.
I have begged them for an iPhone/iPod touch version.

I've used info.xhead for several years now, just recently updated to most recent version. THIS SOFTWARE has never once lost an item or jammed. It is like a faithful assistant who instead of saying, "I'll go look for it, um maybe I know where it is," instead says immediately, "Here is all the data you need right now and in full." What a relief. I am always looking for straightforward unbloated software that has a reasoned learning curve and works reliably the first, tenth and zillionth time like clockwork. info.xhead does just that.
I'd also mention ANY time I've had a question, the genius behind the software answers promptly and in full. That's also a big plus, as I have other productivity software that seems to have to get a gong to raise the dead to get a response from 'support.'
Info.xhead is FIVE STARS all the way around. Thanks.

The developers, in my opinion, have succeeded at putting together yet another solid update to this fantastic application. But this alone is only part of what they should offer; addressing customers needs and concerns in an honest and timely manner is equally important. Sadly, this seems not to be the case often.
I'm sure that with every OS overhaul, comes challenges to developers. Maybe more so to some due to the nature of their applications. But there are developers offering their software as freeware or donationware who keep up with those challenges and who provide outstanding customer support with nothing more than the satisfaction of helping users have the best experience using their software. I commend them for that. People should show appreciation for their time and passion by making a donation whenever possible. The developers of Info.xhead would certainly benefit by adopting some of that passion.
But why am I praising this application while at the same time showing the stick? Well, it's simple. It's sad to see customer support not doing justice to an otherwise fantastic application. My critique is intended to encourage the developers to take better care of their customers, after all, they have built a great application. Why not going full circle then?

Sad this app died and none of the deadlines were met by the developer. The timeline on the comments here tells the story. All of us that had to shell out $$$ for some other new app to replace this won't come back to info.xhead.
