In reply to the peeeeceee comment, without them we would all still be using mac Lisa's and probably still paying $KKK for them!
Yes, people still are using Mac Os 8.6, even 8.5, 8.1, 7.5, 6.x ... Why not. If it ain't broke, why fix it. Mac Os 8.x-9.x is a versatile and stable OS. As a matter of fact, I just purchased a complete 7600 for my 2 year old that dual boots Mac OS 9.1 and YellowDog Linux. The best of both worlds for approx. $US50.00 !

yeah a few who can't afford the hardware to run a *real* OS: OS X.
there just isn't anything else worth bothering with, and i started using Apple computers in 1978. never owned a peeeeceeee and never will.
that said, i think that someone's been playing around here, like clicking the OS 8.6 updater download link many many times here, some little pinhead thinks it is funny. i've seen it happen before here on MU, a month or two ago some very unimportant and obscure driver was top of the Weekly Popylar list, obviously a silly joke perpetrated by little pinheaded dweebies with nothing better to do.

I hate to break it to you but not everyone can buy a new computer every month (practically) I just got my PPC about three months ago I'm a 9th grade student and sure my computer isn't fast but it works pretty well. I've also created my own scheme for my computer that makes it look exactly like OS X's Aqua theme pretty neat I think.
PS My family does have a OS X but still it'd be nice if you'd quit knocking OS 8
