Yet another compression format. Pretty impressive compression, but doesn't retain Mac/UNIX permissions.
This siftware requires knowledge of the command line. For the avreage user I would reccomend a front end, such as "EZ 7Z".
I have easily compressed and decompressed many gigabytes while multitasking. I would reccomend this to anyone who knows how to use "Terminal.app"
Too complicated for the standard user. Try it you'll see what I mean.
What are you talking about? This is about as easy as it gets using the command line.Dont give this a bad review just because you dont know how to use it.
I've tested with various files. Don't use it for mp3 and that kind of pre-compressed files. But this is the greater algorithm I've found in my life for plain-text files, much better than zip, gz (not to mention ".sit", which is ".shit")
So, it isn't actually a good substitute for zip/rar/sit (a bit slower, not "universal" and not more efficient for general-purpose files than existing apps, appart from the lack of support of mac things).
Actually, I would pick it only if I were planning the compression of a 5,7 GB plain text file.
