Great concept and nicely done, HOWEVER the puzzles themselves are uneven. Some are relatively easy (say, mate in 2) and some are pretty difficult. This would be OK if they were arranged in order of increasing difficulty, but they aren't.
That is forgivable, but what is disconcerting is that at least one puzzle (#5 for me - I assume they are in the same order for everybody) does not have a mate solution. Crafty is analyzing that puzzle now and is at 14-ply now, with no mate in sight.
It's hard to complain with a free widget. Let's just say there is a bit of room for improvement.

I am really enjoying this widget as well. On a very minor note, I ran into mistake in the engine on puzzle #64. It stops the puzzle as a checkmate even though black could still move en passant to capture the offending pawn. Is en passant movement excluded from the engine?
Since v 2.1.2, the engine has been able to capture en-passant and in fact does this when I play out #64. Please make sure you have the latest version and feel free to contact me.

another thing that might be nice is a minimized state for when you aren't using it, it takes up a lot of room. that is fine when i'm messing with chess, but when i'm not i'd like that space back and i'd like to get it without having to close chesspuzzle.

i think this is pretty great, though it seems that the computer can't guide you through some of the puzzles in some instances. i don't know why it happens, but maybe it has something to do with leaving dashboard-- but i've had several draws when only clicking on the "!" button-- which is supposed to show you the proper move for that puzzle, right?
also, it would be nice if i got feedback for every move so that i know if i've gone astray from the solution.
all said, i'm enjoying this-- thanks to the developer.

I really really like this widget. I'm just starting to learn the game and this widget is helping me to become a better player. The interface is dummy-proof and the features are useful and enlightening. This is the only widget I use everyday and I am grateful for its development. Thank you Applepi.

Way cool widget! I love it. And the engine is pretty strong, too. (I'm a 1900+ player, and this thing is hard to beat at 5secs per move...)
I'd like to see the full source of the combinations (e.g. Nimzovitch vs Euwe, Karlsbad 1929). Could this possibly be implemented?
This is a terrific widget. I love that the newer version can work through the whole puzzle to the end (in case your first move was just a lucky accident!) I have had no crashes or bug problems using it on a PBG4.
Version 2.1
Great job!

Will developers please incorporate the version number in the download file. Thanks to Tiger or Safari or both I keep getting Version 2.01 because of the aggressive caching of 10.4.2

then clear your browser cache, or turn it off completely, Safari Enhancer can disable your browser cache.
Actually, Drag and Drop seems to be reserved for moving Widgets around or dropping icons from the desktop. DnD is the natural mode for a chess game, but I'm not sure its possible. Have you seen another Widget that uses DnD that I can have a look at? Thanks.

I'd like to be able to drag the pieces around, rather than click and click again to move.
