Beeblefish BBC Radio Player is a Dashboard widget to play the Real media audio streams that the BBC provide for their main radio channels.

What's New

Version 0.7b:

Total rewrite of the javascript.
Nudged the image for the Asian Network to centre.
Last choice of channel now persists after restart.
Images for international 5 live reoptimised.
Now 100K smaller one way or another. Good eh?

It's just Radio 4's streaming link that is broken. The old one was "rtsp://rmlivev7.bbc.net.uk/farm/*/ev7/live24/radio4/live/fmg2.ra". Does anyone know the new one so that I can modify my copy of Beeblefish?

The next version is going to have all the available BBC radio streams, and BBC Scotland will be one of those.

There is an issue with RealPlayer.

1. Open the program (RealPlayer)
2. go to
Preferences -> Transport -> Use manually configured Click Configure and clear all transports except HTTP

It should work.

I did what you suggested, but when i tried to listen to Five Live it says it cannot connect to server using Http...seems to only be Five Live

looks good but doesnt work. Its not the widget but neither my G5, iBook or powerbook would run the bbc real player and havent done so for 6 months despite downloading and messing about a lot. It must be a general mac/real player problem

Solved it! Replacing the old Radio 4 link with "rtsp://rmv8.bbc.net.uk/radio4/arts/saturday_play.ra" gets it working again. Find the Beeblefish.wdgt, do a control-click "Show Package Contents" on it, and in the "sources" folder is the file "radio4.html". Open this with a html text editor (I used TextWrangler) and replace the old link with the new one. Save it. Quit and restart Beeblefish in the Dashboard and Radio 4 should now be working again.
