i'm sorry, if i may be wrong here, but i don't know where to ask.
Does a bios exist for the X800 GTO?? I can only find the one for the XT. I want to flash my X800 GTO with a mac bios, so i can use it with my Powermac G4 Quicksilver.
Does anyone happen to know where this ROM update has been moved to? The link provided here takes me to the ATI website and then tells me that the download is "unauthorized".

I have a Dual 1.8 (1.25Gb Ram)Running Tiger 10.4 and I was having problems running it with the X800 XT card (hangs, checkerboards, etc). So I ran Update 109 and the only thing it seemed to do was delay the same problems. I could run for a few minutes past startup, and then it would hang in any application. I would get the beach ball forever. I tried choosing 104, 108 or 109 and always the same problems...haaaannnnngggg
Ummm the problems you desribe could very well be indications of a hardware problem, especially considering updating the firmware changed nothing. Contact ATI or whoever sold you the card.

I just attempted to install the ROM 108 update for my X800 XT, but there seems to be an error in the updater. When I get to the section of the updater that says to choose easy install ot custom, no matter which one I choose, when I hit the INSTALL button, I get a drop-down menu that says to boot into safe mode when using this ROM update, but instead of an OK or CONTINUE button at the bottom of the menu, there is a QUIT button. The installer goes back to the previous section of the installer and repeats this over and over, never letting me actually install the updated ROM version. I attempted to use the CUSTOM install option, but I get the same drop-down menu each time. ATI's website also seems to be having problems, as I am not able to send a ticket to notify them of this problem.

This works! Firmware 107 would not boot at all on my G5 with Tiger installed.

Added built-in Firmware Fan control - Fan control has been implemented within the card's firmware to maintain full fan control with or without the presence of the ATI ROM Xtender file. This update is recommended for all RADEON X800 XT MAC EDITION cards. Previous reports documented the loss of fan control after accidentally losing the ATI ROM Xtender in the System's Extension folder. With this update, fan control is enabled early in the boot process and maintained with or without this extension file present. To re-install the extension file, simply run the original RADEON X800 MAC EDITION installation CD, this update or a newer ATI web released driver update.
