Are you part of the RIAA?

Just kidding.

A very promising application. Has exactly what you need and nothing you don't. It would be nice to see a more standardized user interface (resizable window, menus/key shortcuts) and a more responsive launch time.

Unusable because of severely stuttering playback.

This is the only app with audio playback problems on my - admittedly old and slow - G3 iBook.

Damned Java crap! When will developers learn?

Very nice idea, but Indy is complete unusuable on a slow mac (like my G3/500 iBook) -- it takes all available processor speed and even then is not able to play music without cracks and dropouts.
Great concept, but poor implementation.

I've been using Indy since I ran across it a week or so ago, and it's been great! It's been almost totally stable on my Tiger PowerBook. The only problem I've seen is that from time to time it'll go silent, and I'll look over and see that it's stuck at some percentage of downloading the next batch of music. But then I just quit it and restart it and it happily plays away again.

I'd like it if it stored the artist's URL in the comments tag of the files, so I could more immediately hunt them down after the fact. But then again that's what Google's for.

There's a lot of good music out there! Who'da thought? (:

If the artist has embedded their URL in the track (as they should) you can simply click the artist's name in Indy and Safari will open their web site.

Good program.

The new beta launches incredibly slowly on my Powerbook (1 GHz, 512 MB RAM, 10.3.9) - it bounces in the Dock for about 2-3 minutes before actually starting up. Even Photoshop launches faster. Is anyone else experiencing this, or is it just me?

This problem should be rectified in the latest version. The first time you start it, it will still be slow, but after that it should start up quickly.

Every artist website looks essentially the same. What kind of conspiracy is this?

Every time I quit the program and restart it, I have to click through all the songs I've already rated before it gives me new stuff. I don't think that's how it's supposed to work...

Also, a less ugly icon would be nice.

The program has potential, though.

The bug you describe is now fixed, and sorry - but we like the icon ;-)

you should give the # of songs this provides. It seems I have come to the end of the list of songs available and has began to repeat songs I already rated as 1 star.

This bug should be fixed in the current version.

Very good! I can actually find new music, and acquire it for free if I like it, without the RIAA on my back! And the program learns my taste as I rate songs!

I had tried the Windows version before and was impress, but actually, the Mac version is way better!! What's different? For example, I can set the space reserved for songs, the titles are displayed more nicely, and the volume is adjustable. The beta 9 for Windows does not do that to my knowledge...

Still, the program is not perfect, but still in beta. Needs polishing on the user interface, and a better launch time. I see it's Java based, this could explain the long launch time.

Keep up the good work! This looks very promising.

So, 5 stars for the good work so far!
