brightness equalizer is an iMovie plug-in that lets you exert photoshop-level control over brightness in your clips. it works similar to brightness curve adjust, except that instead of setting in/out values absolutely, you set them relatively (like in an audio equalizer). a pixel's brightness is determined by it's composition of red, green, and blue values. a perfect digital image has a linear brightness range running straight from zero (darkest) to 255 (brightest). however, most devices (and especially photo paper) do not exhibit linear properties when recording images. the straight line becomes
