The Hand That Feeds is a song by Nine Inch Nails. This download gives you a completely editable GarageBand version of the song that you can edit yourself.

"For quite some time I've been interested in the idea of allowing you the ability to tinker around with my tracks -- to create remixes, experiment, embellish or destroy what's there," Reznor says. "After spending some quality time sitting in hotel rooms on a press tour, it dawned on me that the technology now exists and is already in the hands of some of you. I got to work experimenting and came up with something I think you'll enjoy."

It is amazing to have the opportunity to work with Trent Reznor's music. I really hope that future artist follow in his footsteps. Many people have already completed remixes of his work.

A little contest is running right now at this site: (feel free to join in!)
http://www.thtffanremixes.cjb.net/

Check out my work and drop me a line to know your thoughts:
#124. hopeful for halo-SL mix (an industrial, dancy remix)
#127. black spiral SL-mix (a dark and moody slower mix)

This site is linked to the official message boards for the artists of Nothing Records. (http://www.echoingthesound.org/)

Enjoy!

Sean

you can use this with garage band 1.0, but be prepared to hold down the return button for a few minutes while it pops up a ton of errors. after all the errors are done, it works fine.

Wow, this may be cool enough to justify upgrading to GB 2.0. :-)

What a great idea! Thank you very much for doing this. Please ignore that ungrateful comment below. Hmm - is this open source music?

Well I *AM* a NIN fan and have been for fifteen years, and I WON'T offset my appreciation by adding a subtle (or blatant) slam against the new stuff. Music changes, musicians grow---and besides, who is/isn't a fan and what does/doesn't suck about new NIN tracks isn't even the point. Can you think of another professional musician who has ever supported the Mac community like Trent Reznor is doing here? Ten stars for being a true star; keep on rocking in the free GB trax world!

Thank's Trent! I appreciate the work. Kudos for putting it out there in an interactive format that has been underutilized as a conduit (ie; ProTool files, Metro etc.). GarageBand seems to make a great bridge between artists and listeners. Though not a fan, I hope the Album does well for you and the band.

What a unique and wonderful opportunity--to be able to deconstruct and change a professionally recorded track. I've never been a NIN fan particularly, but I thank Mr. Reznor for sharing this. It's a unique learning tool and I, for one, greatly appreciate it. I hope more things like this become available. Thanks again.

What a fantastic learning tool! This is just the kind of thing one needs to get a true understanding of an incredible program and its capabilities. And the Mac fan that he is, Trent has shown why the Mac community is a place to share and enhance the experience.

Thanks, Trent! I can only hope some of your colleagues perform the same favor.
