The world of Darwinia is a virtual themepark, running inside a computer network built by a computer genius named Dr Sepulveda.
Darwinia is populated by a sentient evolving life form called "Darwinians." They are the product of a decades worth of research into genetic algorithms.
Unfortunately, the systems of Darwinia have been overrun by an evil red Viral Infection. This Virus has multiplied out of control and must be stopped.
Your task is to destroy the Viral Infection and save the Darwinians from extinction.
What's New
Version 1.4.2:
It is now fully Intel compatible
Functional key pad bindings
Added difficulty settings
Updated Ambrosia Toolkit for Intel/Mac compatibility
Offering icon based control system for new users, yet still offering gesture based control system for existing users
BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This update deletes EVERYTHING from your saved games. I lost my entire character, finished game leves, and the editor by installing this much needed update.

Performance is a huge issue. I registered the game, and in the later levels the framerate drops to 1-4, which is unplayable. And that on my 1.25 GHz G4!
A patch is coming to fix this issue though, keep a close eye on http://www.ambrosiasw.com/forums/ as well.
Apart from the performance issues, the game is so damn addictive that the problem levels couldn't stop me, and yes, the game even includes a level editor, something we Mac users often miss.
I'll be back to rate this game when it's updated.

Very cool game. I bought it after finishing the freeware levels. It's still great. It's tough at the end, so brace for that, but everything is relatively fair. Performance is an issue for some reason, and I'm running a Dual 2.0 G5 w/Radeon 9800/Pro.
I have experienced pretty severe crashes on three occasions.

Interesting game. I'm not sure it has long-term appeal, but it's was fun for an evening. It got terribly slow with lots of virus' running amok, and the controls are a bit clunky. The gestures are a cool idea and work fluidly.

What a wild game! There's a little learning curve, but once you figure it all out it's a pretty interesting, well thought-out experience.
This game is pretty sweet. Unfortunately, my regular computer is too under-powered to play it, so I can only play it when my father's dual 2Ghz G5 is free.
