ProPresenter is a presentation system that utilizes two screens, empowering users to quickly and easily present slides on one screen, while controlling the presentation with another screen.
For example, churches that display song lyrics on a big screen while a song is being performed live on stage can dynamically change the slide order for a worship song. Depending on the reaction of the audience, the band leader may choose to sing another verse, end the song early, or repeat the chorus several times. Typically these lyrics are presented through linear slide shows, but the

My church uses this software and, being on the "tech team", I use it every couple of Sundays. The ability to change words on-the-fly and also not have to apply backgrounds to slides is amazing. As previously mentioned, the price is very steep. Not all churches have that kind of money to spend. The features this program has are awesome but for me the interface does not integrate with the whole Mac environment very well... Still, I'd recommend this to any church for Sunday worship.
This is the best worship software out there, but the price is a bit too steep. Unless the price comes down, this will be out of reach for many churches.
The price is in line with all other apps of this type. If the church can afford a large screen projector, they can surely afford this app.

Just because a church can afford a projector doesn't mean it's rich. My church uses a projector from years ago since we can't get a new one. It's a miracle we could get ProPresenter.

I was drafted into the AV position at my local church 'cause I'm a geek. Originally I was stuck with SundayPlus on a PC. Finally switched to a Mac & ProPresenter. I am a VERY happy camper now! The program is simple to use but gives us the power to have the text display & background display controlled separately. It works great for our song service, announcements, & video clips.
Not to mention the fact that it keeps getting better - for free! They added the DVD clip feature so we don't have to switch over to our old DVD/VCR input anymore. And version 3.3 now adds Live Video which I will be excited to test out.
One of the primary reasons in switching to Mac & ProPresenter was to make it easier for 'non-geek' volunteers to run the AV system for services. Trying to teach someone on SundayPlus did not go well for us. (At one point we bought but didn't even attempt to teach MediaShout.) ProPresenter has the features we need on the best OS around. It is used in conjunction with Keynote (for sermon presentations) & WireTap Studio (to record sermons live as podcasts for our website). All apps play nicely together on a Core 2 Duo Intel iMac running OS 10.5.2. With ProPresenter I can stop worrying about the technical stuff and start getting creative. That's what Mac software is all about.

Good app, but really needs improvement, with all respect, sir.
For $400 I'd definitely expect a Cocoa application, and not these home-drawn controls that do not give feedback when clicking them.
I'd also expect a better window-behaviour.
It could be made much more convenient, if you had "one-click" and "Cocoa" in mind all the way through.
(Won't give or take any stars, just giving my opinion)

Apple's Keynote 2 also allows instant slide switching when using two screens, now, which one of the two does it easiest...

I have to agree with Brad. I use Keynote for all of my presentations and it is very impressive with its animations but it's not made for songs. The worship leaders at my church change the order of verses frequently and in a fast-paced song ProPresenter makes it much easier, quicker, and seamless to change slides. Plus there's the ability to edit text during a presentation, use programs during the presentation, and one-click backgrounds (if no background is actually "on" the slide). Before we got ProPresenter we used Keynote and it's simply not meant for live songs. Keynote is for presentations and that's what it does best. Similarly, I'd never use ProPresenter for a presentation in school because it has virtually no animation effects and has little support for object-based slide editing.

Typically these lyrics are presented through linear slide shows, but the limited flexibility of these programs make them very unpopular because of their inability to function dynamically. Our program allows an operator to click on a slide in our "Control Panel", at which point the projector screen immediately transitions to the new slide.
What's more, the program supports QuickTime, and can synch slides with an audio track for canned music presentations. ProPresenter also allows you to change your backgrounds dynamically and, of course, you can integrate ProPresenter with your video production system to key the words over live or recorded video.
