This little application is great!
I wish it had a keyboard f function for on, off rather than administration, but THANKS!!
I have hated the dock with Final Cut Pro and After Effects, the timeline is always "in the way of the DOCK".

I wrote to Apple about my complaint (vapourplaint, no doubt) that the Dock is always in the way when I work (on a laptop with limited screen real estate), popping out all the time no matter where I place it. All I suggested was to be able to *click* on the extreme edge of the screen whenever I needed it (CornorClick gives you the option to mouse-hover or cornor-click -- so obviously it's doable).

I suppose quitting the Dock is better than nothing. Thanks, I have it listed in XMenu for when the Dock gets unbearably distractive.

osascript -e 'tell app "dock" to quit'
[do whatever you need to do without the dock]
osascript -e 'tell app "dock" to activate'

Handy. I just added these two lines to my .profile:

alias dockoff="osascript -e 'tell app "dock" to quit'"

alias dockon="osascript -e 'tell app "dock" to activate'"

Command-tab app switching still works, so life is good. I think I'll see if I can remember how to write these into shell scripts, then use Platypus on them.

Otherwise nice, but disabling Dock with this app also disables Exposé and command+tab app switching...

So, currently DockDisabler ain't my solution for getting rid of Dock...

Why don't you people just say “Thank You?” The first two comments were obvoously from folkd who just like to complain and not read instructions. FINALLY I a now able to get rid of that Dock toy when I am doing my serious graphic design work. If this little program is refined, then that will be great. But for now, THANK YOU fro something that will make my computig a lot more pleasurable.

some times i wish that i could just switch off the dock as it gets in the way.
this app sort of does it but everytime you switch it on or off you have to enter your admin password (i'm using 10.3.7).

what would be really cool is for this app to be an icon in the menu bar and allow a one click show/hide function whilst disabling the show/hide function when my mouse pointer moves off screen in the area of the dock.

this app is almost there. good work

Isn't this software to quit the dock so if you don't want it it's not there? Because it's doing exactly what it is not supposed to.

I thought we could 'Hide' the dock in the 'Dock Preference'.
Why do we need to dowload something to take up our disk space to do the thing that is already there? No wonder people go to get larger and larger hard drive for all these useless software.

That's the way I see it!

I believe this is to "DISABLE" the dock totally and only re-enable it when u want to and not just hide it.

OS X's function is just to hide and automatically show.
