The idea is interesting, the implementation is not.

1. Before being logout, there is a long delay (1 minute maybe) which allowed me to find how it was working.
2. The protection can be removed by deleting the Safer Workstation application or just renaming/moving it as the crontab is using an absolute path name.
3. The protection can be removed by deleting the crontab which is added.
4. The logout can be canceled by running a terminal as root or an application which refuses to quit on logout.

No deep info on website or in the documentation included with the program. What happens if you tie to one device and the device is stolen, are you permanently locked out of your own computer? Is there no authorized user back door or override? Is it compatible with FileVault and Open Firmware Password?

Too many unanswered questions for now.

If your "key" is lost you can contact support@pariahware.com and someone here can help you log back in to your system.

So in other words, there *is* a back door, and the developer isn't talking about how it works.

Which means -- and let it be made perfectly clear that I'm in no way accusing the developer of doing this -- that the developer could, in theory, set up the application to allow this back door to work over a network.

I appreciate the effort, but closed-source RealBasic is not something I'm going to trust here.
