The Satimage osax is a Scripting Addition, i.e. a plug-in for AppleScript.

The developer's web site is down and the downloads don't work. Bummer!

Thanks, @Fontgoddess. It turns out that my ISP (or somebody) is blocking my access to the site. I used one of the readily available web proxies to finally reach the site.

5 Dec - what gives? This version (build 360 - v3.5.2) has been around since July.

this is a truly superb tool for AppleScript users that provides several features, including regular expressions, that AppleScript doesn't provide on its own; i have used SatImage for at least ten years; Smile on my Mac provides it free as an adjunct to their advanced numerical scripting tools

note: this listing is outdated -- the http://www.satimage.fr/software/en/downloads/downloads_companion_osaxen.html site offers version 3.5 as of today; also, as i write this both 3.5 from my link above and the 3.4 version noted in the page header are downloading a corrupt file which won't install; hopefully this is a temporary problem

This is the best (only?) way to do regular expression parsing in applescript and will pay for itself (free!!) each day for that alone.

A really nice set of scripting tools, which has worked flawlessley since OS9 (remember that?) and continues to be updated regularly.
