Requirements
PPC / Intel, iTunes 6.0 or later.

You might want to zip this up with some documentation. Right now it comes down as plain text and is displayed in my browser (Camino).

The download is now a zip-file and documentation is included as requested. Thank you for pointing this out!

Quicksilver does this very well. Symphonic, which is a widget, also provides similar functionality.

Cool.
Its fore fun to put the mouse away for while.
I use it with Quicksilver though.

What is the advantage of this application over going to the library and using the search box?

(they both need one mouseclick)

Good question,
I made it when I switched from LaunchBar to Butler, because I missed the convenient way of selecting music in LaunchBar.

For example if i am writing in Word and want to play some music, this is what I have to do:

With Play: hit control-space, write the name of the music and hit return

Without Play: switch to iTunes, click on the library playlist, press alt-command-f (or click in the search field), type the name of the music, click play and switch back to Word
