I was tired of manually typing what song I was playing in iTunes to my friends on iChat, and after looking for an application I made my own in AppleScript, and here it is.

PPC, Mac OS X 10.2 or later.

Also - John, if iTunes is paused it should still put the song anyway. And i will try and make the dialog go away, and be text instead.

This is different than iChatstatus. iChatstatus sets just that, your AIM status (something which the windows AIM client doesnt support) This on the otherhand is similar to iChatstatus, but instead of setting your status will insert the song into a conversation

Not bad, but it requires that I have the apps always launched and it gives an error dialog and quits if iTunes is paused.

You may want to check out iChatStatus, which is also free, runs in the background without having to have the apps launched and has a few configurable options.
