SoX Wrap is a wrapper of the conversion routines of the open-source sound utility SoX. It handles conversions between many different formats: 8svx, aiff, al, au, avr, cdr, cvs, dat, gsm, hcom, la, lu, maud, mp3, nul, ogg, prc, raw, sb, sf, sl, sph, smp, snd, sndt, sw, txw, ub, ul, uw, vms, voc, wav, and wve. It is a batch converter: you can give it a long list of files to churn through, and walk away. Addition (1/5/09): The Xcode project for this is now available at http://www.waveformsoftware.com/sox_wrap.zip.

SoX Wrap is remarkably easy to use, and offers a number of options if you want to batch several types of audio files. I found it useful working with ogg files (which don't work with my iPod Touch) and convert them to mp3. All you have to do is drag and drop the files, and allow a few minutes have the software do the conversion.

I find this app of limited use for OSX users: it doesn't support AAC/Apple Lossless, and you can't change the output bitrate.

hm, a 192 ogg results in a 128 mp3? how to change the output bitrate when converting from ogg to mp3?

Great app! I've been looking for something like this to do batch audio file conversions. Works great, and it's free!

Also, the developer was very responsive to my feature requests. Thanks!
