Renoise is a sophisticated music sequencer and audio processing application for Windows, Macintosh, and Linux. It's a unique all-in-one music production environment for your personal computer.

Renoise's rock solid stability makes it ideal as a live jamming tool. You can map almost every part of the interface to a MIDI controller, run your guitar through a Line-In Device and distort it with native effects, or just use it as a drum machine; a sampler on steroids.

Renoise's open API allows programmers to easily extend Renoise. With a few lines of code you can add the
What's New
Version 2.8.0:
  • Full 64-bit Support:
Ever since our Linux users got a 64-bit version with Renoise 2.5, we've had a lot of requests for 64-bit support on all three platforms, and now it's ready. Running the 64-bit version, the memory-hungry among you can now take full advantage of the available resources in your machine, allowing you to break the 4 GB barrier.
Renoise 2.8 also comes complete with a native plug-in bridge, allowing seamless usage of 32-bit instrument and effect plug-ins inside the 64-bit Renoise process, and vice versa.
    • 64-bit versions for all platforms: Windows, OSX and Linux
    • Plug-in bridge allows 32-bit plug-ins to be used within 64-bit Renoise
    • Full Rewire 64-bit support
  • Reworked Pattern Matrix with Slot Aliases:
Workflow has been the keyword for most of the 2.8 development cycle. Thanks to the revamped Pattern Matrix and sequencer, it's now easier than ever to arrange your songs. By aliasing individual pattern slots, you can lay out complete tracks in no time. The new sections feature allows you to add structure and overview, while the streamlined sequencer helps to keep your project nice and tidy.
    • Alias individual pattern slots in the matrix, i.e. treat them like clips
    • Edit one slot and have changes propagate to all other aliases
    • Quickly clone or alias slots by dragging their edges
    • Use section headers to group parts of the song together
  • Track Groups & Collapsing
Another big workflow improvement is track grouping, which allows you to group related tracks together, and have each group share common effect chains. It's now also possible to collapse tracks and groups, which can do wonders for the overview of large projects.
    • Group tracks into logical units, collapse them for better overview
    • Flexible routing of group tracks
    • Collapsed tracks use minimal space, while still providing a quick overview
    • Pattern effects in groups will affect all member tracks simultaneously
    • Automatically collapse all tracks except the one you are focussing on
    • Color code tracks with adjustable background colors

An outstanding piece of software in almost every way. Firstly, it looks fantastic with a well thought through crisp UI design. It's probably the best looking DAW on the market - maybe even nicer than Logic. Secondly, it's just so much fun and incredibly easy to use while being as deep as you need it to be. I have to give special praise to the guy who does the official tutorial videos - he just gets straight to the point with no fluff what-so-ever. I had it all figured out in one watch. Love it!

I used to use Impulse Tracker back in the day. You can't imagine how overjoyed I was to find Renoise for my MAC. Loads of fun and the price is right!

Renoise is great. It has a lot of power and speed. Definately my favorite music-creation studio.
If you aren't familiar with trackers, then it may take a while to learn. So download lots of XM-music files and learn. There are literally thousands of XMs out there.

With a few lines of code you can add the features or tools that you always wanted but never dared to ask for.

Renoise is based on mod trackers. Mod trackers are characterized by displaying and editing music in an easily understood grid known as a pattern. These patterns are akin to sheet music, but are displayed alphanumerically instead of with musical notation.

Renoise boasts full ReWire and Jack support, FX and instrument VST/AU/LADSPA/DSSI plug-in support, automatic plug-in delay compensation, multi-core load balancing, MIDI I/O, OpenSoundControl, audio recording, flexible audio output, graphical & numerical parameter automation, modular parameter routing, and much more.

Due to its keyboard driven workflow, it makes the creation of desktop music far quicker than in a traditional MIDI based sequencer. For experienced users, and those who don't necessarily want to be bound to piano roll systems to music, it offers a refreshing approach to composing and is one of the most efficient ways to do so using a computer.

Instead of spending hours cobbling beats together with a mouse, why not do it in seconds with just a few keystrokes in Renoise? Whether you're an audio veteran or just starting out, Renoise is a fantastic addition to any bedroom or professional studio.

Got laptop? Use Renoise.
