A plugin for the Mac OS X Address Book... Isn't the Address Book just a fantastic gadget? Especially that function that dials the Bluetooth phone. This plugin mimics that function, but for the good ol' phone. Using the internal modem found in most Macs it dials the number you've selected.

Note: This is not a tool for phoning from your computer. It just dials the number, so you don't have to.

UllaBella has been localized for English, Swedish, and German.

What's New

Version 0.3.1b:
  • Fixed iTunes 4.7.1 interaction

Version 0.3.1:

  • Corrected the "pause iTunes" function
  • Added 'period' as a number separator

Requirements

Mac OS X 10.3 or later, but may also work on earlier versions of Mac OS X.

Nice and close to what i need but... It would be nice if there was a way to email the developer, but I have not been able to find any email or anything to contact the developer. I guess i will leave my request here then. Hopefully the developer will read this since there is no other way to contact him.

Here is my only problem. I live in a pretty large area, so no matter where I call I have to dial the area code. If it is a local call I still have to dial the area code without the 1. If it is a long distance call I still have to dial the area code but with the 1. Same area code, but depending on where the call is going I have to dial 1 or no 1. The program works great for when I am calling someone long distance that is not in my area code, but I cannot use this for local calls or long distance calls with my same area code.

It would be nice to have a feature that you could choose to "Dial 1 with area code", and "Dial area code without 1", and then it would be of real use to me. Other than that, it could be a real good app for my use.

If you follow the link for more information you'll go to the developer's website and you'll find a link to email him on the bottom of the page.

is it possible to make this either a service or an applescript? in that case one could use it from within QUICKSILVER. it seems to not handling + in front of the country code (e.g. +44) otherwise: thanks for that much needed little tool!

Pretty cool. Much faster than some similar AB plugins I've seen.

One problem: my phone service has a 'stutter' dial-tone to indicate when there's voice mail. This stutter breaks lots of dialers, including Apple's own PPP dialup software. Fortunately, Apple has an 'ignore dialtone' option. Any chance you could add that same option to this AB plugin? That would be awesome.

Hot stinkin' dog, it's about time someone does this. Others have been done, but not as freeware and not as seamlessly (AFAIK).

Good job!
