StartupSound.prefPane is the software which controls the volume of the startup sound of your Macintosh computer. StartupSound.prefPane mute the startup sound without changing the output volume setting. And StartupSound.prefPane limits the startup volume so that it may not become loud even if you make the output volume louder. To set up the startup volume, you select the "Startup Sound" pane added to the "System Preferences."
What's New
Version 1.1b3:
Fixed compatibility issue with Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.
2.5 stars for a software that works fine on a MacBook Pro (Early 2011), but does not work or have any effect on the startup sound on a MacBook Air (Mid 2011).
DO NOT DOWNLOAD/INSTALL "STABLE" if you are Intel Lion. I did not read the comments and the stupid installer installed it then said it couldn't run it and NOW THE UNINSTALL CANT RUN since its for STUPID POWERPC.. What a terrible programmer to not check before the install!!!!
Now I CANT GET IT OFF MY COMPUTER.
Something that was going to take 1 min has now been an hour of hell while I am at work. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE.
I love simple tools that just do one thing well. This and Caffeine are my favourites in this category. I can now turn on or restart my MacBook without embarrassment in a meeting.
Took me a little time to realize that this app is an add-in to the System Preferences - Other.
Just installed 1.1b3 version on iMac running
Snow Leopard 10.6.7. Works great, but as in Jediah's review had to restart once and put the slider on minimum and selected mute just to make sure.
This sounds like exactly what I'm looking for, so I downloaded and installed it. When I clicked on it in the Preferences pane, it showed me the following message:
'You can’t open Startup Sound preferences because it doesn’t work on an Intel-based Mac.'

No updates since 2009 make this look rather dead.

Est-il envisagé une mise à jour pour utilisation sous Lion ?
