LogKext is a freeware keylogger for Mac OS X 10.4 and 10.5. LogKext is controlled by a command-line client called logKextClient, and is encrypted with Blowfish encryption by default.
I've been using logkext for a couple of years and it does a good job. Exactly what I need, nothing extra. It's saved my butt countless times... from retrieving a lost email or letter to remembering a password from a month ago that I typed wrong and would have been otherwise irretrievable. The only thing I'd like to have (but can't) is an easier way to get to the documentation/help, but that's part of the system so I don't know if that could be overcome in the program itself. Good app with no extra BS.
Hi!
I used this logKext for a while, and now, when I print: "print", it doesn't show me the new keyboard activities. I don't know why. Could u help me?
Warning: When updating to 2.2, you will lose the ability to decrypt your old 2.1 logfile. If you need it, you should back it up in an unencrypted format.
This is awesome. It would be even better if, along with parsing our the special characters like delete, etc..., it would log the window that had keyboard focus. Safari takes focus, some one types, then adum takes focus, someone types, etc...
This tool would be even more useful with these features, or at least I think it would.
Okay, so I don't understand this.
I tried doing what fred suggested about adding a password to my admin, but I already had a password it just never prompted unless I was installing something... so I tried changing my admin password to "daemon" so I would remember it.. now here I have the following:
Last login: Wed Jul 22 12:55:00 on console
Macintosh-2:~ Alex$ sudo logKexclient
Password:
logKext is working for me. I just want to know how to erase its memory. At some point the computer is going to run out. (not in the near future, but....)

By far the best keystroke logger. It's unobtrusive and doesn't suck up CPU cycles like all the other keystroke logger.

(after "sudu logKentClient" and password were entered)
Uninstalled and tried it again, and also on another mac, same result.
Running on a intel mac OS 10.5.8.
Any ideas?

2.2 does not work any more...:(
I have the same problem but i ve found a great solution :
logKext doesnt work if the admin have no password (blank)
just create another admin account with now a password
open teminal and follow the instructions
type : sudo logKextclient
password : (your new admin password)
logKext password : logKext
type "open"
wait and read :)
after .. delete the new account if you want
sorry for my english friends
