I just hope that this application working again isn't some sort of error and that the developer will be getting an invoice from Weather.com. That would not be good.
Boy, do I miss WD! Loved, loved the little shimmering pop ups announcing a change in condition! Really miss the notifications and impromptu weather warnings. Oh well. Would pay to have this app back again...
According to the dev's website, it's now been delayed indefinitely due to illness. I wish the Dev well. If you've used the old version and never sent in a donation for, now would probably be a very good time to show your thanks to this dev for all the hard work he put into it and send a "get well" donation.
Oh, and WeatherDock 2 has been working again as of 05-14-2012. Not sure how long it'll last, but others are reporting the same thing. I'm back up and running it now. :)
I Was crestfallen to learn that WeatherDock would be no more….been using it for years and loving it; but now I hear that a WeatherDock 3 is in the works. Whoop di doo, I'm really jazzed.
Looks like WD3 is gonna be even nicer than 2.
You can leave your email address at developer's website and he'll let you know when WD3 is ready to roll….yes!
After more than 7 years of fun, the WeatherDock application will come to an end. On November 15th 2011 WeatherDock will cease to function.
License termination by weather.com
Weather.com, the supplier of weather data to the WeatherDock application, has updated their licensing scheme and does no longer allow for free usage. As such WeatherDock will be cut of of weather data, this November 15th at midnight Eastern-time (EST) (GMT-5).
The future of WeatherDock
WeatherDock will definitely not continue / return in its current form, as the new weather.com licensing terms are horrendous and not commercially viable. Whether WeatherDock will return in a different form is currently undecided.
Thank you !
Thank you, for using WeatherDock for all those years and helping to make it what it has become today.

WeatherDock killed on 15 Nov 2011 ldue to weather.com terms]..
Wow. This is quite sad. Thank You A.T. for all these many years of service you provided. I used this on all my Macs, and will miss this product daily...
Ut oh, I just realized something... doesn't this also use weather.com for its data? Is this going to go down like WeatherDock and others have because weather.com has gotten greedy with its license?
As of 11-17-2011, Meteorologist is still working, but I'm wondering for how long?
Great little app, been using it for a while now. Unfortunately, since the 10.6.3 update it has stopped working for me. Icon just shows 'N/a' and there's a message saying "Couldn't connect to weather.com", even though my internet connection is fine, and I can browse weather.com without any problems.
As of this afternoon it seems to be unable to connect to weather.com. I'm assuming they may have changed or retired an API on their end. I didn't realize this app hasn't been updated since 2008. It's worked flawlessly up until now. I originally switched to it after WeatherPop bought the farm. Bummer.
I find that when I change locations, the app stops working. I then quit and relaunch and everything is fine. It seems to only check the proxy settings and network connection only on launch.
After working just fine for several weeks, WeatherDock started showing erroneous icons and weather reports (e.g. 52 degrees and rain while outside it was 64 degrees and bright sun)...which was what the Weather Channel also reported. It's getting its info from the Weather Channel so not sure what's happening, but it's consistently wrong, so uninstalled for now. (Yes...it's configured for the correct city)
As far as I can tell there's no way to delete presets if you're running in menu-only mode. You'll need to go to the Preferences, Display page and click the Show Dock Icon button. Then click the Dock icon to show the main window (assuming it isn't already visible) and then click on the Favourites button. To remove a preset simply select the location and click the minus ('-') button. You can also drag locations to reorder them.
I have used weather dock for years now, and love it. All of a sudden it has stopped appearing in my menu bar when I turn on my computer. After I click on the icon, it will reappear, but disappear shortly after that. Yes I do have the menu icon enabled, and the automatic open on login. I am using 10.5.6 as well on a new macBook
Still the same response... I am wondering if it may be because it takes some time for the internet to connect. My university just got wireless, and it takes about a minute for everything to register on the network.
Mine went crazy too, but the developer is aware of the issue:
Important notice!
Dear WeatherDock users, it has come to my attention that the format of the feeds delivered by weather.com and used by WeatherDock have been changed, causing some undesired behaviour in the WeatherDock application.
I will investigate this issue and try to find a solution.
If this issue can be resolved then I will be posting a new version a soon as possible. Please check back later, or use the 'Check for updates' item in the WeatherDock menu.
Great software, it's the best weather reporting application out there.
I have noticed that the second week of the 10-day forecast is not appearing, coming up with a "N/A" instead. I have confirmed this happens with both the 2.4.6 and 2.4.7 versions. Perhaps it's a problem with picking the data off of weather.com.
The degree-sign is not correct now. It was in the previous version. Instead of the degree-circle there is now a small 1/4-number??? I trashed the prefs and it didn't help.
And Xypher, there has been celsius even in previous version.
I just purchased "LittleSnitch" yesterday. I see that LittleSnitch is set by default to deny TCP port 80 (http) access to WeatherDock. I really like WeatherDock, but is it spyware?
I have, but now I am noticing that apps like MDict, Yep, etc. have the same behavior. The weird thing is that they aren't already configured in LittleSnitch. Of course the developer can't spend all his time preconfiguring for all eventualities, but as a relative newbie to OS X, it makes me wonder which apps should be considered to have a legitimate purpose using TCP port 80 (http) and which shouldn't?

Weather in a window -The main window shows all sorts of information. It displays the current condition as a big icon and contains all sorts of detailed information.WeatherDock shows 5 or 10 icons containing forecasts for the upcoming 5 or 10 days.
Weather in the dock - WeatherDock updates it's application icon with an icon representing the current weather conditions. You can customize this icon by adding 'badges' to them representing all sorts of weather information.
Weather on the desktop - Next to the Dock icon, you optionally can add this icon to your desktop, this icon will then allways be visible on top of your other applications on a location you desire, but will hide itself when it could get in the way.
Weather in the menu bar - WeatherDock can add a menu item to you menu bar. This item contains direct information on the current conditions, but when selecting it you have instant access to more detailed information as well as forecast information.

This version has stopped automatically refreshing itself and giving weather updates. I have to manually choose Refresh.
This started with this version. So I have moved to the Weatherbug widget.
