ID3Mod can change the encoding of MP3 ID3 TAG information. It's very useful when you copy PC encoded MP3 files to Mac, while the song name maybe in a mess when you import them into iTunes.

ID3Mod can access iTunes song library, so you can modify the songs tag encoding even you already import them into iTunes.

One unique thing about ID3Mod is that it handles encoding with DBCS (Double Byte Character System) like Chinese, Japanese, Korean or any other non-ISO-8859-1 encoding. This means the tags will be comatible when imported into iTunes.

On 14 Nov 2011, I paid US$6.99 using Paypal. After payment, Paypal tried to redirect me to a website but I've got an error. I checked that the payment was successful.

I sent you an email yesterday but have not received any reply.

It's said it works on Snow Leopard 10.6, but it quits unexpectedly whenever I try to remove a song, save a song, and etc. Mine is 10.6.1. I love the interface and its function, and I am wondering if the developer can improve the compatibility with the latest SL.

Thanks

It works fine on my snow leopard. Just right click on the application. Choose GET INFO, and check the box "OPEN IN 32-BIT MODE".

Just downloaded, and I am not satisfied:
1) ID3Mod V45 doesn't see iTunes Smart Albums.
2) It shows me only 16 characters in the Album name, while in reality there are more, and some song names with only 6 characters show here as 5 character names, last charcter is missing. Once I save, I loose that character in the name forever. (I use Unicode encoding).
3) No auto-save for changed tags.

Sadly this app is no longer a freeware.

Before you spend an hour trying to download it from the author's very slow responding site in China, here's the content of an enclosed text file "limitations of unregistered copy".

--

Unregistered copy has no time limit, but has feature limitations:

- The song table only show 12 songs each time.

- You can not edit the song tag with an external editor.

After you register the copy, the ID3Mod will unlock the limitations when you restart ID3Mod.

It's only $19 (USD) per copy, I will send you the activation code in 4 hours.

---

Thanks but no thanks; I'm sticking to the older version. Other than the new 12 songs limit and external editing, no other new "feature" is mentioned... so why bother upgrading?

It's only $19?!

The new feature is : Access iTunes Library inside ID3Mod, so you do not need to export the library XML anymore.

And the new version fix the memory bug so it won't crash when load over 500 songs.

The new version of ID3Mod will be released soon. It will integerate with iTunes and it can load up to 2000 songs a time now.

I'm just waiting for my intel based Mac, maybe I should release a PPC version first, and UB version later.

Since this app takes in the iTunes Music Library.xml, I'd like to find a way to edit tags in the .xml (like in Excel) and then use this app to (confirm/touch up the major tags if needed) write the edited tags to the music files.

I don't know why people are so critical of this little free app. This is absolutely the best app to transform all your messed up MP3 ID tags into legible formats on Mac... 2 thumbs up!

And don't try to load ALL 500 songs at one time! Considering this is a free app, give it a little slack and try to load maybe 100 at a time and see how that goes...

I just downloaded it and I don't understand what exactly is happening. I load my mp3s (1 album with 12 songs), choose proper encoding (Windows Latin2) and all names look correct. When I press "Save" button, nothing happens. When I press "Save as..." buton, all files are exported with right name but their ".mp3" extensions is are removed. I don't find adding extensions back again to all files as such a deal :-( Or am I doing anything wrong? My version is V52 running on OSX 10.6.2. Thanks for help,

Roman
