DrumThing is a compact and simple application designed be a software version of a drum machine for creating drum patterns, loops and grooves.
What's New
Version 3.1:
The app is now Universal.
Fixed MIDI save files so that tempo and note durations are identical to how the loops play in the app.
Fixed tempo setting to be accurate in real time.
Lower price.

As one who spends many hours a day composing music (in my fashion!) on my iMac G4 (OS 10.3), I am always on the lookout for software that helps me do what I'm trying to do. In DrumThing 1.6, I've found just what I was looking for in a drum-pattern program. It's cool, for sure, and the price is certainly right -- especially in light of its capabilities. It lacks for me, at least) only the ability to export to Midi; but since this option is in one of the pull-down menus, I assume the feature will be coming along in due course.

This is a nice little app. However, I feel this is best used for the education market. It certaintly doesn't have the features needed for a "pro" app, and I wonder how much the guy strumming his guitar on the weekends will want this.
But in the education market particularly K -12 this is a good app for teaching the basics of beats.

Good point! Will point the app to that market, perhaps when save as a MIDI file is implemented the app will be of use to the musician market.

Please check out the last two versions, the screen footprint has been reduced to accomodate users with smaller screens. It has been tested on an iBook and fits the screen with no problems.
There are currently no troubleshooting comments. If you are experiencing a problem with this app, please post a comment.
