AirPort Card Update 2004-08-31 improves reliability in mixed 802.11b and 802.11g environments and is recommended for all customers with AirPort-capable computers running AirPort 3.4 and later, including AirPort 4.0.
After this update, the AirPort Driver and AirPort Extreme Driver will each be upgraded to version 3.4.3.
I experienced a lots of trouble with this update. However it only seems to appear if you are using a Netopia modem. Personally I have ADSL from NextGenTel (Norway) using a Netopia ADSL modem. After applying the update ALL ports were blocked, and a rain of NAT problems started.

Applied this update to three different installations of OS X 10.3.5 with no issues.
Can't say that I notice any improvement, but it did not hurt anything.

Did you repair permissions *before* and *after* the update? (This should be standard procedure for any OS X component installation)
Have you tried booting into Open Firmware and using the reset-all command?
Have you used any third-party HD util to check your installation?
Have you tried resetting the PMU?
Point is, you give no information that leads me to believe you have tried anything to rectify the issue. Your comments are practically useless.

Now my aiport 11Mb works properly with a (Buffalo) 54Mb wireless router, while it didn't before.

After updating, no problems. I don't notice any obvious speed/reliability changes however.

MUCH improved. It fixed a problem I had where I could not reconnect to a certain network after sleep. Thank you Apple.
