I've consulted with many school districts over the last 15 years, and very often had to suggest tools such as FirstClass for their collaboration needs. NO More! Collaba is way ahead of the game now and for much much less! It offers email, forums, integration with servers (AFP, SMB, FTP, you name it) and a keychain-like functionality which make it a perfect portal for education and business alike.
The high-end version can even integrate with LDAP for authentication, and there are ways to integrate it to an OS X server to create accounts and folders on that server too (using a third-paty tool).
It even offers whiteboarding, video conference, boy! Too much to handle in a smalll review. Download the demo, you'll see. I have two customers running it successfully, with 7000 and 14000 users respectively!
Way to go SYPECom, thanks for another update!

What a brilliant developer. Releases a grand new upgrade and has a NO method of delivering a demo! Lousy website states that their working on a new refquest form for the "free" VL version. Ha, even the date when the web-request form was pulled is a typo. Please, get us excited when you CAN deliver. May as well be vaporware!

Best of all, Collaba is very easy to install and requires only a Java platform to run (on Linux, MacOS X, Windows 2000, etc.). No extra database, mail or web server required, everything is built-in and ready to use!
Multiple Collaba packages are available to meet specific needs. A free version is even available for educational organizations. For more information: www.collaba.com
