BEWARE: DO NOT purchase any product from Chronosnet.com if you expect a response to purchase/serial number problems or bug resolution requests.

Too bad, since many of their products are pretty good: I own SOHO Business Card, SOHO Labels and, now, Labelist, an upgrade to SOHO Labels. I purchased the upgrade May 5, 2012.

When the purchase receipt email arrived it had the serial number and so forth.

But the serial number did not work. And their only response, elicited via their clumsy ticket system on their website was: "Well, it worked for us."

I couldn't respond to their email since they won't accept emails. So back to the ticket system..And since their ticket system does not, apparently, allow for attachments, like a screen shot of the input serial number box and the failure message that came up next, I included a Dropbox link of a zip file of the screen captures.

And I never received any response even though I filled a a new ticket several times.

Dead silence.

It's incredible that new full point versions of this product continue to roll out every year, yet Chronos continually fails to include new features that are truly useful and worthy of the upgrade price.

I am particularly referring to basic Applescript support.

SOHO Labels is without a doubt the best labeling software on the Mac, but the complete lack of attention to automation features like Applescript support completely baffles me, and is the only reason why I am still using SOHO Labels version 4 (and in retrospect, there was nothing in the v4 update that I find myself using that justified upgrading from v3.0).

Chrono's new support system is pitiful. First, we cannot purchase an upgrade because the checkout the system doesn't recognize our license key.

But then, we have to sign up and use their forum-style help system to resolve the issue? Ridiculous. A quick email should be able to solve the problem, yet Chronos has "discontinued" email support. Nice work.

Guess what I'm not doing now? Purchasing your upgrade.

I need to say right up front that I don't use this app but when I see a company just today touting POSTNET barcoding as a "new" feature, I can confidently tell you that you're dealing with a developer who places no priority whatsoever on keeping the software updated.

I mean, get real, mail barcoding and pre-sorting by Zip Code has been required for years and years to receive the USPS reduced-mailing rates; yet, this app is marketed, in part, as a "Small Office" application.

NOT

And if it takes this long to implement barcoding, what do you think will happen when an OS update "breaks" this software? Will you be dead in the water for an extended period? Or forced to delay the OS upgrade to accommodate Chronos while they take their own sweet time providing a fix?

I'd say run, don't walk, away from this software. There are plenty of alternatives by developers who are on the ball.

BTW, now that Chronos has finally implemented the ancient POSTNET barcoding, I should also mention that starting in 2009 the USPS standard is Intelligent Mail® Barcoding. It's required for small offices receiving the maximum USPS discounts on their mailings. Wonder how long it'll be before SOHO Labels gets around to incorporating that requirement? The Intelligent Mail® specs were published in 2006...2½ years ago!

Unless I fail to understand your premise, I believe you have misinterpreted the December 10, 2008 announcement from Soho Labels 4.0. Could it be that you inadvertently combined the software's new ability to print a varied range of Facing Identification Marks mentioned under the "What's New" heading with the phrase "Supports 15 barcode formats" in the opening paragraph, resutingin belief that the software was only just now capable of supporting U.S. Postal POSTNET printing? In any event, visitors to this page should be aware that from the very beginning, which was Version 1 of Labels & Envelopes, Chronos's SOHO products have been capable of printing POSTNET barcodes. (Not to mention PLANET, U.K. Royal Mail, Japan Post, UPC-A, UPC-E, EAN13, EAN8, Industrial 2 of 5, Interleaved 2 of 5, Modified Plessey, Code 39, Code 39 Extended, Code 128, and Codabar barcodes.) No, i don't work for them.

@A. B. CARRACHO

Before you wrote your comment two weeks later, the developer removed POSTNET barcoding as a "new" feature in the MacUpdate "What's New" (in the version) area. That's why my post didn't make sense to you. :-)

Oh, great.

Just because I replied to your comment without taking the time to first ask you about the underlying detail, I get modded down a point.

How dare you make a fool of me by pointing out the truth! Only my wife and kids are supposed to do that.

Also, now that I read it again, I perceive a hint of snarkiness -- and a lot of know-it-all -- in my words. I apologize for that.

You could have been righteously indignant in your reply, yet you weren't. I thank you for that as well.

Oh well, they're still there, it happens I looked for them under 'Media Labels' since I was delighted with the new CD-DVD labels support and went straight to Media Labels looking for DYMO's… in a nutshell, they're still there but not what I wish… I guess I still have to rely on far from stellar DYMO software…
