Easy to use and powerful. Makes making a MYSQL database simple. Saves a ton of time for those, like me, that just want to get the work done and not sling code around.

I never thought I'd be recommending FileMaker, but it just depends on what one's needs are. For the tasks iList Studio is purportedly designed for, one would indeed be better off with FileMaker. FileMaker does a heck of a lot more for not much more money than what's being charged for iList Studio.

iList is a sweet little app, that makes MySQL management very easy for beginners.

My only problem is sharing that database.
1. Why would I want to share my database using Microsoft word ?
2. Why can't I just convert it to a searchable web page?

People usually look for an easy way to share databases online.

Only problem, many don't know PHP, and looking for an easy way to do that.

Thanks for the comments Dan.

The Send to Word and Excel features are designed to aid in reporting, not sharing databases.

Nor is iList Studio designed for sharing MySQL databases with hundreds of visitors to a web site. Rather, it is a multi-user collaborative tool for small groups of researchers, students, and business people (i.e. 2 to 30 or so).

A database administrator can control MySQL permissions and the iList Studio interface on a per user basis.

iList Studio seems like a good idea, but I wouldn't know. As expected, it does absolutely nothing without MySQL. I have tried to connect to the MySQL installation on my dedicated server online - completely without success. I might add that I have no problem at all managing numerous sites on that server using PHPmyAdmin to manage MySQL. Also I have followed all the directions to the letter to install MySQL on my local machine (downloaded from the iList Studio site) but it simply will not run (Powerbook G4 1GHZ running system 10.3.4 at first, now 10.3.5). The iList Studio documentation says to 'ignore all the technical stuff', and that iList Studio will sort it all out for you. Uh.. I don't think so. I'm a reasonably experienced bit-head and I can't get it to work at all! If anyone else out there has any further input on this, I'd be happy to hear about it, as I actually would like to find out if iList Studio will help with my work.

iList Studio works with MySQL 4.0.x, not earlier versions. Might this be the problem Rick? A few users have contacted us with similar reports of not getting iList Studio to recognize MySQL, so there may be other issues involved.

I don't know if this will meet your specific needs, but we are working hard to release a version of iList that creates standalone databases that do not require MySQL. Hence your comment that "iList does absolutely nothing without MySQL" may soon be mute.

When we're ready for release, we will be sure to update this page.
